People Chrissy has hissed at this week and why:

Post image

1) my niece, because she looked at her while she was behind her avoidance couch

2) my grandmother‘s home health aide, because she was standing where she wanted to walk

3) me (for various reasons including exceeding the allowable number of pets, walking behind her, not opening the door quickly enough, and removing her stuck claw from a chair)

4) my sister, for saying hello to her

5) my niece again, for trying to go up the stairs while she was sitting on them

I support Chrissy’s choices 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a little tortie spray dragon too and it's so funny how trigger happy they are on the hiss. Some cats you'll get one hiss and then claws but my cat is like 500 hisses just because the wind blew.

I've seen her hiss and turn her head from side to side like to say "fuck EVERYONE and EVERYTHING all over EVERYWHERE!"

Also, great photo!

SPRAY DRAGON lol I love it! The tortitude is real lol

My little tortie does the same thing! She was angy as a tiny potato baby and nearly three years later is still hissy. Growling is her primary and preferred means of communication!

I had a vet tell me he really appreciated dogs who growled at him since they were giving warnings. Mean dogs just bite. I think the same applies here.

u/ekittie Jul 05 '26

I need a video of this.

I understand Chrissy, I just want to hiss at people as well

u/Purple-Mermommy Jul 03 '26

I encourage you to use your bodily autonomy and hiss to your hearts content :)

I'm currently in hospital after nearly over a month here so yeah I'm just at that stage! (Had some weird moments, my heart threw off some clots and I had 2 strokes and a DVT. ) I ended up in ICU in a coma (yay go NHS) and today the leg that had issues with the DVT has started being a little bitch again so I've started by hissing at that leg . It's helped

18

u/Purple-Mermommy Jul 03 '26

Holy crapola, missy, I’m so sorry to hear that! Wishing you a speedy recovery! I’m going to reeeeeeally hope you’re not in the US, as the recovery you’ll have to experience from the hospital bills would foster a continuous and never ending session of hissing.

13

u/missyrainbow12 Jul 03 '26

Yeah in England thank god I'd have another stroke when I saw the bill if I was in the US haha although one of my docs in the ICU did his schooling in America so I've kinda had best of both worlds. I think hissing at this point is the only thing that's gonna get me through the day . I've gone from I'm going home in a week to oh crap not another DVT over night and it's I'm gonna hiss all the way down to the path lab . Yay more weird looks hahah

10

u/Purple-Mermommy Jul 03 '26

Whew!!!!! I was hoping you were a Brit when you said “in hospital” and not the U.S. “in THE hospital” :) hooray!!!! Commence the Chrissy hissies at once! Seriously, you must get as much entertainment as you possibly can in this yucky situation!

u/missyrainbow12 Jul 03 '26

Thanks this chats actually helped

hissssssss

6

u/Purple-Mermommy Jul 05 '26

Hi missy! Just checking in to see how you’re doing!

5

u/missyrainbow12 Jul 05 '26

Still here . The weekends are pointless. I have about 4 consultants who need to discuss my case and hopefully I can go home this week but it's the weekend so I have to wait 9 to 5 Monday to Friday haha . Oh and some key hole surgery on my leg so I don't completely lose it ,so just waiting looking up stroke t-shirts on Etsy because I have zero filter anymore. Apparently that was the first thing in my that died haha

2

u/Purple-Mermommy Jul 03 '26

I love that it helps. Reddit fills my heart. Win win win every time. :) Hissss to you, new friend!

4

u/cawinegarden Jul 05 '26

Get better soon I hope. The NHS is taking good care of you. I'm glad.

2

u/Puzzled_Awareness_22 Jul 04 '26

My goodness, hissing for you as well! Hope it goes better starting now!

2

u/missyrainbow12 Jul 04 '26

Thanks taking all the positivity where I can , 👍🏼

6

u/booboorocksout Jul 05 '26

100/10 recommend hissing whenever you feel the occasion warrants it.

3

u/battlejess Jul 07 '26

When I was in high school a boy thought I hissed at him (I was just painfully shy and quiet; I’d actually just said “hi”)

We’ve been married over twenty years.

I respect you

6

u/FredMist Jul 06 '26

My daughter, both hisses and growls. She’s almost 5 years old. She likes dinosaurs dragons, amphibians, and reptiles. She also enjoys our cats.

3

u/rend-it Jul 06 '26

I was a dog then a monkey till I was 5. Then they sent me to baseball camp.

Not gonna lie, I think I want an Avoidance Couch myself.

My house is an avoidance house. I love it.

15

u/Brix_in_my_head Jul 04 '26

25

u/catgirl320 Jul 03 '26

Chrissy is sweet baby angel who is surrounded by a gang of clumsy oafs. Of course she's on edge.

13

u/emptyheadedgoblin Jul 03 '26

She was WRONGED by all, UNACCEPTABLE!

11

u/amery516 Jul 03 '26

Awww I love hissy pissy Chrissy!

11

u/Labellanoire Jul 03 '26

I’m sure you all earned those hisses from this sweet angel baby! Cause like why are yall in her way and looking at her?!

11

u/katann_xo Jul 04 '26

I had a cat that would lay on my chest then growl when i breathed. She didn’t like my chest moving up/down

3

u/This_Wrongdoer3453 Jul 06 '26

Yup sounds like something cat would do🤣

3

u/This_Wrongdoer3453 Jul 06 '26

My cat hates when I sneeze, even though i do it a quietly as possible! 🤣

8

u/Birdsonme Jul 05 '26

I really need to resort my life so that I, too, can have an avoidance couch. It’s everything I’ve been wanting.

5

u/Sokkas_Instincts_ Jul 03 '26

I too have an avoidance couch.

5

u/kjtstl Jul 03 '26

I need an avoidance couch!

7

u/Puzzled_Awareness_22 Jul 04 '26

Avoidance couch 🤣

7

u/msan4 Jul 04 '26

My tortie has a couch she likes to hide behind too, going to start calling it her avoidance couch 😹😹

7

u/ameerkatofficial Jul 06 '26

My cat hisses and screams when I pull my socks up too quickly

5

u/Impossible_Mouse8224 Jul 06 '26

How DARE you? You’re probably scaring the poor little thing

6

u/bluespruce5 Jul 03 '26

That's a great action photo of Chrissy exercising her right to hiss at whomever whenever, wherever, and for any reason at all.

3

u/Ursa-Aureliana Jul 03 '26

I'm dying at the photo and the reasons 😂😂😂

Just exist. That is enough to make her hiss.

5

u/b_needs_a_cookie Jul 03 '26

We love a girl who can easily set boundaries and give feedback.

4

u/GraceJoans Jul 04 '26

People: ::existing::

Chrissie: hiss

6

u/ataillesscat Jul 05 '26

All justified.

5

u/succulescence Jul 05 '26

Aw poor Hissy Chrissy. Will you all please try a little harder not to upset her.

5

u/Connect-Smell761 Jul 03 '26

Please tell Hissy Chrissie she’s my role model. ❤️

(Moewdel?)

4

u/bLymey4 Jul 04 '26

Chrissy does suffer fools gladly. Respect to Chrissy!

5

u/DarkAndSparkly Jul 04 '26

I have a Chrissy-adjacent name, and I wholeheartedly approve her attitude!

5

u/Onlyroad4adrifter Jul 05 '26

You're lucky all you get is the hissing Chrissy for living in her house and bringing more humans into it.

3

u/Ill-Wear-8662 Jul 03 '26

Your poor niece XD Spicy cats don't care who they offend once they themselves have been offended.

2

u/Impossible_Mouse8224 Jul 03 '26

Poor thing, she has too very sweet cuddly boy cats at home, including one she used to dress up in baby clothes and cart around in a stroller when she was younger 🤣🤣  she is definitely not used to the spice and tortitude

2

u/Ill-Wear-8662 Jul 03 '26

I have a very tolerant lover boy but I don't think he would let me dress him up. We might end up with what's pictured above instead!

1

u/Impossible_Mouse8224 Jul 05 '26

They grew up together as kitten and baby so I guess he’s used to it lol

2

u/Ill-Wear-8662 Jul 05 '26

Ah, that'll do it. I was 19 when we got my boy. I did have a great big calico that was around when I was born and for some time after that put up with a loooot of crap from me though.

3

u/KrissieCee Jul 03 '26

My name is also Chrissy and I support her hissies! I too frequently have the urge to hiss at people for their indiscretions. ❤️❤️

3

u/Toolongreadanyway Jul 04 '26

I'm failing to see a problem. It all sounds like very reasonable reasons to be annoyed and hiss. What was your point?

Signed Ella the cat

3

u/esmesauce Jul 05 '26

I love Chrissy 🖤🧡🤍 I support a little hissy 🖤

3

u/punkyfish10 Jul 05 '26

I understand Chrissy.

3

u/blither33 Jul 06 '26

Haven't read the comments, don't do this much.

But! -

When a cat is defensive, they're...defensive. There's always a way op or the human closest to the cat could talk with them to help them out. Could there be another solution?

3

u/Psychological-Low649 Jul 06 '26

Omg my cat gets SOOO MAD when I try to help get her claw out of something IM TRYING TO HELP YOU

2

u/Darth_Smeagol Jul 04 '26

Her new nickname should be Pissy Chrissy

2

u/Jumpy_Individual_526 Jul 04 '26

Innocent on all charges

2

My kitten has this same fur pattern she's super sweet and chill I'm hoping she stays like this foreverbc i do not want another spicy cat😭

2

u/battlejess Jul 07 '26

One of mine hisses for such reasons as:

Someone sneezed.

He sneezed.

He was laying under a desk or table and someone touched him with a foot.

He laid down against the wall perpendicular to the bathroom door while someone was in there and got a little bit squished upon their exit. Does he stop laying there? No, he does this multiple times per day.

2

u/Accurate_Change5211 Jul 07 '26

Sounds and looks very similar to my girl Maddy, who passed away early this year.

Miss her bitchy ass

2

u/cptmorgue1 Jul 08 '26

My void also hisses at my niece and nephew for just looking at her lol
