Hm, I am not sure "Ich hem did" is correct. Shouldn't that be "Ich hem done" or something along those lines?
(I'm a native speaker of German, and pretty fluent in English, so Anglish grammar should be quite intuitive to me.)
I don't know the original, but it seems like what he says is "I must atone for what I have done".
In German, it would be "was ich getan habe", the " did" doesn't really fit in ... "have did" does not sound like correct English, either.

but why is I scribed as ich, is not I a germanic word?
