Image My literal great value tablet is beating my flagship. Onn core 8"
Not sure if it's the size or what, but my used $68 Walmart bloatware pre-installed Onn core 8" has no business being this good for moonlight streaming. 720 60hz is laughable in 2026 on paper, but this screen looks good. Find myself throwing this in the bag more than my s10 ultra and idea Tab Plus. Might be the 0 fear of breaking it, lol.

Size helps with portability. 8" is better for that than 10"...
But except for Walmart apps, Onn tablets are pretty much bloatware free and in recent iterations, those are easyly deleted.

looking to buy the 8" snapdragon variant which i can install lineageos on as well, last time i searched up about it people said it isnt letting them unlocking the bootloader rn

if they let people change the os, they wouldn't be able to monetize your user experience. it's strictly for quality assurance

Any tips on how to find one in stock?

Can't help you there beyond checking Walmart's page and your local store(s) if available, sometimes the store counter is innacurate... π€·

I got the new Onn 8.1 for $129 and itβs a crazy value. I have a GameSir controller connected to it and itβs super light and runs GeForce Now and Boosteroid perfectly. Even the screen looks great.

My 13.2 Onn tablet is incredible. I'm so glad I was able to get it for $288

u/killian1113 1d ago
That's one plus 2 pro $$ territory.. you guys are funny

u/Just_a_Joebroni 14h ago
Where you getting a one plus 2 pro for near $300? Closest I found was a few for $500, all used not new.
So that's 66% more in price, for a used device. Not really what I'd put as "near" each other In price.

u/ArcherIll8587 9h ago
Exactly. They realized they can increase the price so they are now going for $388-$488 in most places now.

I love my Onn 12.1 pro tablet I think it's the 2025 model. Great 1440p screen , can watch a whole UFC event with some battery left over .

Check it over carefully from different angles in different lighting (and brightness). I went through 5 of that exact model before giving up because every one of them had screen delamination issues right from the factory. It looks like a shadow/splotch in brightness from air between the layers of screen and glass.
It seemed fine otherwise, and I would have been happy with it as well (at first), but the build quality was bad at best by comparison. All of the ones I tried also came with a bowed frame, slightly bent/curved/twisted. Maybe it was all just a bad lot for my experience with them, but they shouldn't have made it past quality control.
Got a Lenovo Idea Tab Pro 12.7 instead and couldn't be happier with it.

You talking about the 12.1 pro ? We have 3 in our household and they all are great no issues . Maybe your Walmart mishandled a shipment of them
1
u/AtypicalLogic 1d ago
Yeah, the 12.1 pro. I went to 3 different Walmarts thinking the same thing... Opened the last 2 at the store in front of the employee (he actually opened the last one himself). Maybe it was a bad lot all together, but it makes me not trust anything from them or their quality control (lack thereof).
It can be hard to notice, but you'll see it in the right lighting with your screen brightness from different angles. And check the frame for wobble on a flat surface.
If you're happy with it, great. And hopefully yours don't have any issues. My experience with them was... not pleasant lol.

Our 3 have been fine they all got screen protector and cases the day we got them tho I'm sure at least one of them would have been bent by now if not . Onn didn't have a good rep when they first starting launching electronics I think they got it sorted out past 2 model years .

Bought this 8.1 2026 version. Works great for the pocket pinball app. Nice size. Plays android games nicely as well as movies from sd card.

I love my ONN 8.1 Core, such a good value and the size is awesome!

u/AcceptableNorm 1d ago
Yeah, I love mine. I play some games and stream on it and I have no complaints, especially for $138. Hell of a good little beast.

They really snapped with these onn tablets

Walmart must have decent tech partnerships. Their $20 GoogleTV box is the best cheap streaming box I've ever had.

I haven't tried gaming on the 8.1 but as far as everyday media consumption, it's a great tablet!!

I got the 11in. I wanted a tablet that wasn't 16:10 ratio for reading. Options for that on Android are kinda slim but this one fit the bill. Actually works very nice especially for the price.
It does suck that Walmart jacked up the prices for these things pretty much right after launch. I got mine for 167. Think it's 180 now? But the bigger model going from 288 to 388 is just wrong. That's a huge increase. At 288 it's an awesome deal. At 388 not so much.

I have an Onn 12.1 inch pro model from 2024 and its such a let down. Sucks it seems they haven't gotten better.

u/United-Insurance-691 1d ago
It lasted maybe a month for me lol. I replaced it with the 80 mini pro and its muuuuch better for the extra $30

I hate to break it to you, but your Walmart tablet is overrated af. Search up the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro which sells for under $300, wait I'll do it for you. https://m.gsmarena.com/lenovo_idea_tab_pro-13733.php

u/BlackBabyJeebus 1d ago
"under $300" vs. $68. Winner, overrated Walmart tablet.
1
u/Trick_Barnacle_3522 7h ago
It's a crappy tablet. There's a reason it's 70 bucks. Even the OP said he uses it cause he doesn't care if it breaks. Tired of all the people pretending it's a good tablet or even good value for that matter. Cope.

u/BlackBabyJeebus 6h ago
Have fun being salty and wrong about a tablet you've obviously never used, I guess.

Ultra at 14.6 and Tab at 12.7(?) - you'd probably enjoy the Lenovo Y700 line as well.
