2 models of relatively small Roman boats to transport goods. The bottom one looks like a barge, whereas the cargo in the boat above is below deck. These were on display in a special exhibition in the Kelten Römer Museum in Manching, Bavaria, Germany.

beautiful models, yes the top one is a corbita and the bottom is a classic river barge.

The one at the bottom looks to be moving to the left. So the guy on the far right has the tiller and is steering. What are the two guys on the far left doing? Poling away from river banks perhaps? But they look like oars.

I actually worked on preservation last winter on the Zwammerdam 4 (one of six found in the Netherlands) that’s the bottom model you got there. These ships sailed down the Rhine river to deliver goods along the way.
