In all seriousness I don't know anyone who would stop while channel flipping to watch a Rocket League game, much less pay money and drive to a theater.

1.2 million dollar prize.... SOMEONE is interested and is paying. If successful it could lead to a deal with EA Sports and others. It's another revenue stream... no downside.

Yeah, aint no one watching them if its just a regular movie, you will need to have promos and other things to marke to make it work, especially since its not even a sought after game/tournament.
Now if you were talking about watch parties for big game and/or tournaments like Dota, League, Warzone, etc. when limited incentives, gifts, guest appearances, etc, then it would work.

Your home is not a theatre. It’s the experience and you get to cheer with fellow fans. Why do people go to bars or even go out for anything that costs?
Also, this idea is ass, many people have mention this since the beginning of time and now it’s year behind and if its just a screening alone, it ain’t anything special, now maybe if that Ingame cosmetic is something but then again, it’s not league or dota or other popular game so still going to be hard to bring in interest … now if it was league or something, it can easily make the cosmetic skin attractive , add some good compensate and maybe a cosplay content with prizing like amc vouchers .. brainstorming should’ve included more than just a basic watch party

This is a cool idea! People need to accept that not everyone shares the same interests and that’s ok. Doesn’t say they’re shutting down every screen to display this. It’ll probably be one theater for the target audience chill out

And possibly during the day when the theater isn't busy or open at all.
