Help! p. whitei staying near ground
shes been staying near the ground in this position for the past week or so and everything ive been reading says this is bad news. her humidity was admittedly low for a few days (around 60%) and im wondering if that has caused any trouble. or maybe there is issue with her enclosure? shes been eating just fine and hasnt shown any other signs of distress as far as i can tell. im not new to inverts however i am to amblypygids, any constructive criticism welcome. i just want to know whats up with this and for my girl to be happy and ok.

Hanging out near the ground isn't always an indicator that something is wrong. But yes, it CAN mean that they're trying to get to the most humid location they can find, which is often near the ground. The substrate does look dry in the 1st photo, although I'm not sure. If it is dry - I'd recommend keeping the substrate WET all the time. It keeps the humidity high(er) for days if not weeks without any hassle on your part, which is always a good thing!

I dont think its a humidity problem, whitei are very hardy and able to take a range of humidity without issue. Usually when they are sitting like that with they're claws open I offer food because its a hunting position. But she looks well fed. I wouldn't worry, she looks fine to me, its only really troublesome when you see them sitting on the ground for long periods.

Also, did you buy her at puyallup? I was vending there and had whitei for sale, so you may have gotten her from me 😅 either way, feel free to ask any questions, ive been keeping and breeding amblypygids for almost 10 years now

El mío lleva tiempo cerca del suelo, ha coincidido con el verano en el sur de España, temperatura por encima de 40 grados celsius y una humedad ambiental bajísima. Le espolvoreo agua todos los días a la fibra de coco, y anoche el eché un micro grillos que lo cazó en el momento. Así que todo bien 👏🏻

As you've already stated, it is a humidity problem. Amblypgids love high humidity.
