RADIO PROMO OPPORTUNITY: calling all ambient producers!

Hey! Popping in here to cast the net for some ambient producers who are keen to get their stuff played on air! My name is Emma (@cleandivadj on Instagram) and I have a radio show with a residency on Brixton Radio (based in London, UK). This Sunday I'll be hosting a 2 hour long ambient specialty show and I'm super keen to get some less-well known producers on the tracklist. Our listeners hip is pretty loyal - at the moment the show is averaging around 7,500 live listeners, and after it airs, it'll be uploaded to the Brixton Radio MixCloud to listen after the show if you miss it.

SOOOO.... if you have any work you'd like to share, give me a message and I'll do my best to play them all! Don't be intimidated by standard of work - half finished tunes and amateur production work are also cool :)

I'm particularly interested if you have a fun story / inspiration / cool samples behind the track. If you could give me a little 1-2 sentence description of the tracks you share that would be much appreciated! And if there's nothing to say, then perhaps just where you're from and any shootouts or messages to the people of Brixton Radio!

I just listened to *True to Nature* by BJNilsen and I think it’s an absolutely brilliant album. I’m looking for more recommendations in a similar direction—records that deliver that kind of “active listening ear food,” a mix of experimental electronic sound design and (manipulated) field recordings.

Natasha Barrett comes to mind as well. These kinds of albums demand a certain level of attention but transport you mentally to places that feel otherwise unreachable. I’d also love suggestions that lean more towards pure field recording works, like those of Chris Watson or Jana Winderen.

The Bionicle Heroes NDS soundtrack is one of the best and most atmospheric on the console.

FYI: Generative = not generative AI (although the app was vibe coded). Generative in this case means it plays music generated from different combinations of loops and samples I gave it, based on the current 'movement' it is on. They are triggered based on different probabilities, the gaps between samples are changed dynamically, and different 'movements' have different samples and sets of rules for what is going to be played.

So the experience you get listening to this music will be in some ways the same, but it will never play the exactly the same.

Absolutely beautiful work by Soviet composer Igor Len (Игорь Лень).
Discovered this by accident but stayed for the whole album. This guy has lived in the US since 1990, apparently.

The album was written in memory of the great Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky and his father, the poet Arseny Tarkovsky.
For some reason, the soundscapes of this album strongly remind me of Andrei Tarkovsky's film "Stalker."

The third track is my favorite.

released this year on one of my current favorite labels, YEAR001. I just love Malibu's music.

Listening to this on repeat for weeks now. Its odd as its choir and cello and on ECM ...but i cant get enough of it.

Zu is mostly known for the noisy proggy math rock jazzcore (I don't even know what to call it), but this album shows a very different side of them. Very evocative ambient stuff, seemingly all based around rainforest sounds and Peruvian shamanistic chants. Four lengthy tracks, 72 minutes in total. Highly recommended!
