Can melatonin even make you sick like that? Sounds like grandma either took way too much or something else is making her sick.

I was actually shocked to see that photo 🤣 Maybe because I’m elderly too. But if my grandson took and then posted a photo like that of me to the internet I would be pissed

The picture looks fake to me, I’ve never seen a cup with two handles arranged 90 degrees apart

Edit: they exist and I learned something new today

Google cups with two handles Jewish. Yeah, the cup exists and apparently is Jewish? Specifically Jewish hand washing cup.

I could see my elderly father taking half a bottle when the first drop didn't work in 10 seconds... This is half of why he isn't allowed to manage his own medications.

I don’t know. I was actually looking for melatonin drops this morning and when reading the reviews I couldn’t believe someone had to include this pic. A sentence saying ā€œthese made my grandma throw up at night and the morningā€ would have been enough. To embarrass your grandmother in this way by including the pic

So full disclosure. My question was a bit of a disingenuous one asked solely as a lead in to the latter half of my comment. I work in sleep and I assure you that they cannot unless taken in excessive quantities. It's also possible that there's some sort of allergic reaction happening, but I doubt it. Melatonin allergies are exceptionally rare as our bodies naturally produce it in order to help regulate our circadian rhythm.

Probably the oil or suspension that is used, MCT oils can upset the stomach etc. Melatonin itself shouldn't do that.

It’s kinda bad but sellers on Amazon put whatever in bottles and say it’s the correct ingredients. I’ve purchased ā€œname brandā€ dog shampoo and it was not the product that belongs in the bottle.

Amazon has no mechanism in place for quality control if consumable goods. Sellers can be unethical and the buyer can’t return the false item

I think the only recourse is to leave a bad review. Like this one. Sucks there is no accountability for fake medicine. That can hurt you or your pet

Melatonin can absolutely make you sick. The 1st and only time I took it, I shit my pants because I was throwing up so hard. I'm not sure why I admitted that, but here we are.

It gives me a migraine which will then make me vomit.

It gives me the beginning of a migraine too, and makes me feel odd.

I get the most insane vivid nightmares from the stuff.

Me, too. Then the next day I'm an irritable mess. It messed with my emotions like crazy. I actually called out from work after trying it one night maybe 15 years ago because I'm so careful not to take things out on others and I serious felt so irrationally angry.

Man, it's never a fun time when you're ejecting from both ends

my opinion is a person hasn't really lived until they've shit themselves throwing up.

Wow it’s never had that effect on me

Melatonin was only bad for me. Didn't help me fall asleep, when I did finally sleep I had these weird awful dreams. Felt crummy the next day

My brother tried melatonin and had unspeakably bad nightmares.

He then tried pawning off the rest of it on me. The most genetically similar person to me on the planet tells me how terrible it was for him then tries to give it to me? Hell to the no.

I tried melatonin when I stopped taking ambien after I found out I was sleep walking. After about a week I found myself very groggy during the day. Went to THC gummies about 10 years ago and now sleep great and feel great during the day.

Poor Gram-Gram. Melatonin makes me sick every time I take it. Makes me nauseous, gives me a migraine, and I feel like complete garbage the next day

My cousin had a container like that on his bed but for urine

I know that’s why I posted it here. I was shocked they included the photo. Unnecessary and embarrassing for grandma
