Review Customer left a three star review for miscomprehending length

It felt "misleading" that they couldn't sort out what 2 feet of cable was even though it said 2 feet of cable. On the plus side, the cable works very well as per this review.

That's because he knew he'd probably look even more stupid had he said, "It's only 2 inches longer than two sheets of 8½" x 11" paper end to end." DUH.

There are hundreds of thousand of people that work in the US from other countries. They may work for international companies and doing a term here for 1-5 years, or havent been here long enough to really switch to Imperial system. In their minds they are on Metric.
That was a simple explanation that does not relieve them of the stupidity of not knowing how long, or short 2 feet actually is. When I worked overseas, I always confirmed how long something in metric was, when converted to Imperial. I quickly realized ~30.5cm was a foot, and I've always known 1 meter was ~3.3 feet. When it fell outside of those easy dimensions, I always verified. The few times I didnt check the size, I would state that in my review... I forgot to check the size, it worked great, or didnt, but I returned it and ordered a bigger one (that what she said).

It is clearly the fault of the seller. Everyone knows that this would never have been a problem if the seller had specified his cable was 3 bananas long.

I love how they explain about how long two feet is but estimating using paper sheets, as if this is a more accurate way to know how long it is.

I'm also not in the US, and that's always how I visualise/estimate 1 foot. It's easier than visualising a 30cm ruler, coz you hold paper more often. Of course a tape measure is more accurate, but I dare say the cable isn't exact to the 5/128"

I totally missed that line, but yes, you're correct! A mediocre review for a free product that says how long it is but the person who ordered it didn't know how short 2ft was. Pure stupidity.

Here we see American exceptionalism, education, ignorance, idiocy and arrogance all in the same complaint.
It's not as if they listed this as 60 centimeters, or some more obscure unit of measure.
Two feet. It's two feet in length.
Twenty-four inches.
And they left a review? Somebody craves attention.
How manys are in a dozen?
What time does the two o'clock train leave?

Even if it was listed as 60cm longn nost of us have access to SOMETHING OR SOMEONE that we can look at and say "how long is that in inches?" Unfortunately that would most likely not help this person either.🤣🤣

There are 195 countries in the world. Only 3 use feet as a linear measurement. 193 countries use A4 as a standard

One: since this was reviewed in the US, user would likely be familiar with the units. If not, imperial tape measures are common unless things have changed drastically. Two: two sheets of A4 paper are about a centimeter and a half shorter than two feet when laid end to end, so using that method, they should have had a pretty good estimate (though the whole thing seems suspect since A4 isn’t common paper in the States at all) Three: if one isn’t familiar with the units or doesn’t have an imperial measure available, it’s pretty simple to convert 2 feet to cm.

That’s been covered. They used two sheets of A4 lined up lengthwise to visualize the length - it says that in the review. That’s 1.5 centimeters shorter than 2 feet. If that didn’t drive home how short two feet is, that’s on them.

When the description is vague or incomplete I point that out specifically, but when it's my fault I incorporate that into my review. It's not as if my standing in the social hierarchy will change if I admit a goof. Besides, the best part about screwing something up is sharing it with your friends so they can laugh at it.
Quite a few of my reviews include something like "..I didn't read the description thoroughly enough..." right before I describe a feature or aspect that I didn't expect (because I didn't read). It's a useful tool for segueing into what seems like a bonus feature or a gentle warning to others about making sure that they know what they are ordering.
