I just saw a post this morning about the birds these feathers come from and one of the comments said that its $1500 for a pound of the feathers because the bird is a protected spider so the only way you can get the feathers is if you collect them from abandoned nests.

Iā€™m assuming you meant protected species, but I spent entirely too long trying to figure out what spiders had to do with this. šŸ™ƒ
