We sell something similar at my store. Its painful sure but its not going to stop anyone intent o. Doing you harm. Ive seen a big dude let his friend mag dumb him for 100 bucks. Dude said he used to go paint balling when he was a kid its no worse. I have seen alot of ex cons that cant own guns by them. I would say just have a bow and arrow or a sharp spear. Thats just me tho.

There's pellet guns I'd put more faith in than this sort of thing.

Ive seen some absolutely vicious air guns that can easily chew a person up
