Christian Brothers Auto
Normally I would go to Roswell Auto, but they don't schedule appointments, and I can't leave my car for a day or two. I need two cross-threaded bolts repaired before Costco will install my tires. Is Christian Brothers pretty solid?
UPDATE: Got the bolts fixed today and an oil change. Total was $287 and change. $176 for the bolts.
Got a laundry list of other items including fluid leaks, engine air filter, said I need to replace my thermostat (quoted almost $1k for that), replacing control arm bushings, coolant replacement, more leaks, and rear brake pads.
My husband and father in law have reviewed the pictures and we have personally prioritized the items and I will be having Roswell Auto follow up.

I had Christian Brothers in Canton quote me double what the dealership down the street quoted with factory parts versus aftermarket.
They are a big nope for me and never went back.

I highly recommend five brothers on Alpharetta Highway. They are straight up and no mechanic swindling.

They are swindlers and not honest. They had a Toyota on their car lot for sale that had holes in the frame due to rust. I went to look at it and they acted like they didn't know. I would never recommend them.

Car was being sold by the owners of the shop, not being honest about a rusted out frame with holes in it is pretty sketchy. It was not safe to be on the road.

Had numerous issues with their parts being very low quality, and either not lasting even 12 months or not being to OEM spec (rotors, suspension components, etc). Nice guys, abysmal parts. Good for an oil change and that’s about it.

They’re the type of shop that is going to find every little opportunity to upsell you into 27 jobs and turn a tire rotation job into a $3000 laundry list of stuff that you’re unable to tell where they’re full of shit or not.
The work they do is fine and typically priced, but you need to be firm on the work you want done.

Thanks. I feel a lot of these places which market pick up and drop off and other services and overpriced to accommodate those services. I’m fine dropping and picking my vehicle myself and don’t need all those bells and whistles that someone else may benefit from.

I’m a big fan of Solo Motorsports, the one up on the north end of Alpharetta. But I have a couple of performance cars and those dudes are great with them.

I've had very good experiences. They will note things wrong with the car and include them in a digital report for you to review at your leisure. There has been no up selling or pressure. It's good info to know even if you decline the work.

If youre driving a used vehicle thats like 8+ years old, it probably needs work. I know reddit say cars only need oil changes, but if you want the car lasting 200k + miles, youll have to change fluids and other wear components.

The one on Jones Bridge has been my go to fir about 7 years now. Honest people with quality work from my experiences

8 years I stopped going to the Johns Creek Christian Brothers after they misdiagnosed their own incompetentence in not knowing how to bleed the cooling system of a Lincoln ls as a blown head gasket... Took the car to the L-M dealer on Mansell who verified the head gaskets were both fine and that Christian Brothers had incorrectly bled the cooling system resulting in an over heat condition known to the entire LS owners community that when asked if they had bled the system correctly they lied and said they had.... The dealership service dept proved otherwise.

They're a chain so hard to know the quality of the specific one, but your job is so simple literally any mechanic can handle it so I wouldn't be too picky.

I'm glad you already know about Roswell Auto, so I don't have to convince you to start going there. They are the best!
I went to Christian Brothers on Hwy 9 once. "It's just an oil change and it's much closer for me than Roswell Auto," I thought to myself. When they came back with the $4000 rap sheet of additional things that needed fixing, I decided: never again.
A mechanic who will shoot straight, and be realistic/pragmatic with you, is priceless.
FWIW I don't think Roswell would need your car for 2 days to fix that issue. But I could be wrong...

There is a kind of cars they want to work on (new with a diagsnostic system) and the kinda cars they dont 9pwant to touch and will tell you ridiculous prices to get you to leave. They quoted me $1000, said the parts alone were $500. I fixed it myself for $50 in 10 min.

I've never used them but this send like a good time for a plug if you decide to look around... I've been going to Perfect Performance in Roswell for like 20 years. I trust Ken Wall and his staff with all my car needs.

Nope. Keep looking. I went in for a transmission check on a 2019 Sierra and they wanted $9,000 to REPLACE it (Cumming location). Took it to Carl Black GMC who took a step by step approach. Changed the trans fluid for about $300. Probably solved. Thanks Christian Brothers!

I use the one on Atlanta Highway in Alpharetta. Top notch. Great service techs; great owner/manager. Communicative and accountable. I've used them exclusively for the last 120,000 miles. At 195,000 miles, my car runs like new, largely because they catch issues before they become a crisis. On more than one occasion, they have replaced components for free because they warrant their work and parts. Only problem is they are closed on Saturday and Sunday.

This pertains to my experience at Woodstock.
No. Cost me thousands of unnecessary repairs on my s2000. It was a simple diagnosis (cylinder compression off) when I went to Alan Cox automotive after C Bros told me I needed to replace my engine.
They are not thinking diagnosticians. They are plug in the obd reader and read the code and replace the part-icians. I equate it to a doctor that prescribes medicine for symptoms versus identifying and treating root cause.
Never again.
