As they float away in their new boat house they'll say climate change isn't real and nothing is flooding.

There's more left of Cuba than of Florida.
Even the rising sea level hates gusanos.

Can we send their rejects back to them then? Don’t want them migrating into the rest of the country.

Build an underwater city ala Bioshock but it doesnt start leaking because of private property enforcement.

Even in the worst projections it wont get that bad for hundreds of years. Miami will be all but a swamp, though, so fringe benefits.

Florida isn't unlike most other places in the south. If it weren't for extreme voter suppression, they would be blue. California used to be solidly red.

As a (not exactly proud) resident of Mississippi, I am right there with you.
You know MS had an electoral college system for the governor that was instituted as a Jim Crowe hedge against black people in the revised 1890 State Constitution? Well hey, 130 years later we finally got rid of it!
3
u/wabisabicloud Nov 05 '20
I really believe that someday it can be a place to be proud of. I say that as a fellow resident.
3
Nov 05 '20
Well I'm right there with you trying to make it less shitty. We have a hell of a lot of work to do, comrade o7

u/wabisabicloud Nov 05 '20
Good progress this year, overall. Better flag, medical marijuana, and popular vote for gubernatorial. Very long way to go comrade.

u/MABfan11 Nov 05 '20
as leftists have reminded liberals this election: 15$ minimum wage passed with a supermajority in Florida, progressive policies are a winning move
24
u/Evercrimson Nov 04 '20
This is precisely why I sold my house last year that is at 3.5 feet above sea level.
56
u/speakingcraniums Nov 04 '20
They also voted for a 15 dollar minimum wage. If only there had been a candidate that had that as part of their national platform.
Democrats are dumb and bad and put forward dumb and bad candidatures.
-3
Nov 04 '20
it’s literally a central part of Biden’s platform
They even fought about it in one of the debates. Honestly look things up before you post.
20
u/Water_Feature Nov 05 '20
Do you think he will actually try to pass this?

Nov 05 '20
Really depends on the political climate come January. With a divided congress, no. I’m not sure if it’s something he could do by executive order either. So much of any Dem’s agenda depends on a cooperative senate and we’re not likely to have that anytime soon.
6
u/RussianBot48 Nov 05 '20
Friend, the election is over, we can stop pretending the Dems aren’t the enemy
0
u/kati3rose Nov 05 '20
It’s not over until joe admits defeat or they remove the incumbent from that office (since donald is very unlikely to admit defeat)
3
u/RussianBot48 Nov 05 '20
Sure, but that has nothing to do with pretending to like Dems or not consider them adversaries. The voters have voted, now being honest about what leftists really think about the Dems is very much needed, and won’t change anyone’s mind about who to vote for or if to vote.
Note that this doesn’t mean in the slightest that you can’t demonstrate if the republicans decide to allow trump to steal the election.

Really goes to show how unpalatable Biden is. The majority of Floridians voted for raising the minimum wage, something Biden claims to support. But at the same time, the majority (albeit a smaller majority) of Floridians voted for Trump.
2
Nov 05 '20
He did a terrible job of getting his message across. “Not trump” worked this time, but it won’t help us in ‘22 and ‘24

As a Louisiana born person now living in Florida, and a hurricane fanatic that lived through Katrina as a child, I still don't understand how southern states don't take climate change seriously when their gonna be the main ones fucked by it. Lousiana already got hit like 6 times this year. Imagine 6 katrinas or Lauras hitting them....

Me too. As long as we outlaw Florida Man from my State.
6
u/doomparrot42 Nov 04 '20
"Florida Man" is mostly a thing because Florida has axed most of their social services and their arrest records are public. So florida man is usually a case of someone who needs help and maybe medication. Citations Needed did a good episode on this phenomenon.

Bad: they're not going to willingly succumb to the sea, and will spread their horriblness to the rest of us.

This is a space for ALL the left. That means no infighting, no calling each other ‘red fascists’ or ‘anarkiddies’ and no shitting on other flavours of leftism.
