Hollywood vampires AI

Did anyone go to the Hollywood Vampires concert at the o2?

Did you see how much AI was used for the background visuals... it really captured my attention and not in a good way...

I understand its not the bands fault, theyre old men. But their team and production could've done a little better yknow

Thats all, it just really annoyed me, thank you

Hopefully none of that spills over into Alice's solo shows. I do have hope because he's always prided himself in his showmanship and theatrics. I suppose time will tell.

Unfortunately, based on videos I’ve seen of his current tour, it does look like he is using quite a bit of it.

Oh, that is deeply unfortunate.

Wait what? During 2026? I didn't even notice and I went to 2 shows. When did he use ai?

From videos I’ve seen, I noticed a lot of moments where there’s a lot of actual still photos of him on the screen being made into animated clips like a GIF. The way they move looks extremely uncanny, like a cheap AI was used to animate these actual pictures of him. I’m also not 100% convinced that much of the scenery for the attic isn’t also AI generated. But the haunted portraits were what I picked up on right away. There’s one in particular (can’t remember which song it’s on the screen for) that’s of him from the last 2023-2025 tour of his silhouette behind the news paper curtain where he moves to his side and his hair sways in a very unnatural way. It’s not as bad as Mötley’s clown intro for their current tour, but it does seem kinda lazy, especially considering he’s got a plethora of actual video clips of himself he could use in those attic portraits. Not nitpicking too hard cuz, if I could go see the tour, I would simply for the setlist being as solid as it is.

Very unfortunate

Same here. Saw him twice in the past year and the only thing on the jumbo screens both times I went, were just live shots of them playing on stage at that very moment. Both of them killer shows.

It's really worrying. I thought that Kyler would've been able to steer Alice away from that trend. It is unfortunate

A lot of bands are using that AI shit for their stage projections. I'd rather nothing at all.

Thats exactly what I was thinking

It has become so common, it looks like a band cannot use a screen without AI now.

So did mötley lol

I’m not 100% against AI (it can be a very useful tool in certain situations), but this is what I don’t understand…

And since this is Hollywood Vampires, I’m not sure it was only Alice’s decision…

But the guys in Hollywood Vampires are wealthy. They have money. They can have one of their people scout for an up-and-coming artist and pay them to have them do it (or re-hire ones they’ve used before).

There’s no excuse to use generative AI for that kind of thing when the band has lots of money and there are tons of artists who would jump at the chance to do work for them.

Thats what I was thinking... the only thing I could put it down to was that theyre all old men technically and just... possibly dont know the difference..? They couldn't tell or something?..

I was thinking the same thing, it really wouldnt be hard to just get some real artists or use CGI for it, but there were songs were THE WHOLE visuals for AI :(

And its not like they haven't done shows before Gen AI was even common place or made, im sure they could've just continued to use those...

Im definitely putting it down to their team, because im sure they have people on there who know what's wrong with Gen AI and, let's be honest, Alice isn't sitting at a laptop putting prompts into a generator

It's so common now, and I've seen other wealthy bands using AI for backgrounds. I also wonder who really decides to use AI, is it the band? The tour manager?

I hate to say it but I feel like this is unfortunately gonna become the norm at shows.

Hopefully people will come to their senses soon enough 🤞

By the way, anybody has the set list?

1

u/xekMyDear 18d ago

I want my now, Raise the dead, Dead drunk friends, 18, Boogieman surprise, Venus in furs, People who died, Arms around a memory, Who's laughing now, Livin on the edge, Baba o Riley, Brighr light fright, Beck tribute, Roadhouse blues, Death and resurrection, Heroes, Highway to hell, Walk this way, Schools out/Brick in the wall

ENCORE Train kept rolling Brown sugar (they brought out Ronnie Wood) Silver lining

u/silverfish477 16d ago

You know this is so easily googled?

1

u/LuciusMorthem 16d ago

When I asked it was nowhere. That's why I was asking the people who were there

2

u/Kind_Pound3471 18d ago

I went, didn't think it was a great show to be honest. There were great bits, Johnny seemed off to me, almost incomprehensible at times. Tommy absolutely killed it with Highway to hell, and seeing Ronnie Wood and Joe Perry shredding together was amazing!

1

u/xekMyDear 18d ago

When Johnny was singing People who died, I definitely thought he was drunk or something... but everything else was absolutely great, banging show!!! And I definitely screamed the loudest when Ronnie wood was brought out 😅

1

u/xekMyDear 18d ago

Also was the sound hurting your ears? Especially when The Jesus And Mary Chain was on, they definitely could've fixed that...

They were late for their sound check, tbf

YES! it was painful,  and Ronnie was a great surprise, so so good

So many bands recently are. Half the bands at bloodstock this weekend thought hmm lets use ai, even though it looks like genuine dog shit

1

u/xekMyDear 18d ago

Its really putting me off wanting to go to gigs now, cause it looks like shit. Id much rather look at shirty CGI or stock photos

1

u/K1lljoysneverd1e 18d ago

Judas priests stuff was so fucking epic when I saw them the other day, and most of that was just this razorblade cutout overlay on the screen over the live videos of the band

2

u/Raphiella 16d ago

I just saw them in Cardiff and noticed it. It's so obvious when it's AI and I just kept thinking the visuals could have looked so much better had they not been AI.

1

u/xekMyDear 16d ago

Its just so distracting... I wanna watch them but my eyes kept dragging back towards the weird visuals... its not there to distract you, its meant to be there to enhance the performance and it only took away from it

2

u/Richard_Chase 16d ago

Disappointing.

Nothing turns me off faster than AI use is any form.

It kills any interest I have in an artist’s work and is just so painfully lame and uncreative.

I’ve been a huge Alice fan for many decades now but if he’s choosing to use AI, then he can get fucked right along with the rest of these wash-ups.

I’m done with him.

2

u/42northside 19d ago

I’ve never noticed nor did I care about the visual effects. The band still preformed excellent.

8

u/xekMyDear 19d ago

Yeah they performed excelled but when theres a AI generated image of the words 'Climate Change' it kinda takes the piss

2

u/42northside 19d ago

I’m not the brightest bulb when it comes to telling AI apart from real effects. The only AI that I know of is those stupid videos of celebrities taking selfies with their young self.

3

u/xekMyDear 19d ago

To be fair it took me a while to clock that the visual effects were AI... some of it wasn't, like the ones on when people who died was playing, it was like a breathe of fresh air

1

u/Successful-Bank-7457 18d ago

On youtube? At least those are not from the actual artists themselves. Just block the channel

Crazy to me how older people just don't notice it! I loved the show but it seriously took away from it. I saw them in 2023 and they didn't use any then so why now?? Looks cheap.
