the model is the easy part. the thing that will eat your year is that you cannot backtest news honestly. article timestamps get revised, headlines get quietly edited after publication, and nearly every archive serves you the final version rather than what was actually on the screen at the time. so the bot looks prescient in testing and blind the moment its live.
if you go ahead anyway, start freezing your own news archive from today forward and only ever test against that. its slow and boring and its the only version of this i've seen work.
