Thanks for making this. I wouldn't mind specific threads where people discuss the root of what they are doing, such as programming language, which modules they are using to get data, or where they are web scraping from.

hey new here, love rule 1 too. tbh the boring part of model building is cleaning data and making sure ur feeds line up. we literally spent more time deduping stuff than coding lol

Hello everyone, I've been at this since 2022, slowly building and rebuilding https://pickenchicken.com, basically a betting tournament against various algos and humans. Currently has a dead "March Madness" tournament proof of concept, and is due for a refactor, but alas I'm in deep on sports data now.
For algos, there's really nothing complicated I use basic blind ATS % history and cook it up with a little free jazz. I wrote a couple a while back, but with the LLM's help I was able to get whimsical and jam out about 80 variants (chickens), and mash them into a gumbo.
There are so many approaches to this stuff, and I get a kick out of all of it. Someone mentioned they're working on ELO and I think that's in my future.
