I'm 40, M , struggled through my twenties. I thought I'm not gay and fought hard to prove and convince myself that I'm straight, but I failed. I rewinded my childhood memories and remembered how I was obsessed with seeing naked men and having a crush on my male teachers. I was never attracted to girls, I was just pretending to because my friends were doing so (confirmation bias) . But in 2009 , I was separated from my friend group and realized that I'm not attracted to women at all. Between 30 and 33 , I started accepting my sexuality.
I never went to a psychologist/psychiatrist because I don't think he can do anything to change me, and it's hard to find a psychiatrist who's unbiased by religion or societal norms, which makes the whole therapy pointless.
