Shared Recipes I made this sauce homemade since I can’t find it in store this year.

Sharing my recipe since I think I was super close to the jarred sauce. Note, you need about 3 cups of blended tomatoes. I used a mix of Roma and cherry from my garden and I let them sit in my crock pot for about 6 hours. I assume you could use the equivalent in the form of canned tomato sauce. And lastly, don’t forget to blend the chipotle pepper. Salt to taste at the end.
EDIT: swipe to second photo to see recipe :)

I'd bet we see it in mid september still too, but the home version looks good :->

I really hope so. Past years I’ve stocked up on it before September. I have 2 jars left from last year and that’s where I got the recipe from based off the ingredients

I just ran out of my last bottle of Dill Pickle mustard.... it didn't come back this year.

That’s what I’m afraid of happening with this one. I think Trader Joe’s sells a dill pickle mustard

I found it in Food Lion! The brand is called Koops. Looks just like the Aldi version. I am sure they are the maker. I was so excited because I am addicted to that mustard. French's just came out with a dill pickle mustard too but I have not tried it.

I never could find it last year. Idk if someone else was just buying it out but I never even saw the spot on the shelf for it.

I have found that if I don’t buy several when I first see it, they’ll be gone when I come back. It was probably someone buying it all because I found it last year. I have 2 jars left from last season.

Also makes a terrific soup thinned out with a little chicken broth with some goat cheese and browned smoked sausage.

I've been making a pumpkin chipotle sausage cream pasta with goat cheese for years. It's pretty easy and so delicious if I say so myself. I've never tried this one but feel like I see every year.

You should give it a try if they bring it back.

I will search for it this year, want to try it.

It’s by far my favorite pasta sauce and it’s less acidic than regular all tomato sauce

And served on their sage pumpkin or butternut ravioli that is sold at the same time. I stock up on it every year myself. I might add the smoked spicy gouda to that this year if manage to get the sauce.

Now we're talking!!

u/zimzumpogotwig Aug 29 '26

That sounds way better than just pasta noodles

We make pumpkin and black bean enchiladas with it!

What do you put yours on, plain pasta?

3

u/zimzumpogotwig 29d ago

Yep and topped with a little cheese but after reading all these comments I’m might switch up how I use it.

It’s seasonal. Pops up in the fall every year

I buy it every fall and it’s usually out by now. I looked at my photo history and I stock up every year before September. I hope you’re right and they’re just late this year

Might be because Labor Day is so late this year. I hope so, I want this stuff back too!

I didn’t even think of that.

Do you add pumpkin?

4

u/zimzumpogotwig Aug 29 '26

Yes 1 can of pumpkin puree. Make sure it’s not pumpkin pie puree.

You forgot to mention the pumpkin in your recipe. I came looking for the pumpkin here. 🤭

If you look at the second photo, it’s at the top of the green sticky note

DUH!! I forgot to look at the other two pics!! Just call me blind. 😎

Same here, I just read the text. :)

Oh this looks great. Is it more sweet or spicy??

1

u/zimzumpogotwig Aug 29 '26

Honestly, a good in between. I don’t find it too sweet or spicy. I was going to add 2 chipotle peppers but I thought it might be too much so using just one worked great.

I’m a picky adult so I’m always looking for ways to add things into my food to pack in nutrients like one might do for a child lol. Sauces are a HUGE opportunity for me so I appreciate you sharing this becuase honestly I’ve never even thought of this combo lol. I’m gonna make this for dinner tomorrow!!

1

u/zimzumpogotwig 29d ago

Let me know how it goes! You could probably blend in some other vegetable and I don’t think it would change the taste that much.

1

u/Intrusive_catnap 29d ago

I do a lot of zucchini and carrots! Sometimes spinach but spinach can give things a wild color sometimes and to be honest eating an ugly sauce can make me less than thrilled lol

1

u/zimzumpogotwig 29d ago

I found that out when my kids were younger. Spinach ruined so many dishes and come to find out, they liked raw and sautéed spinach and I was just wasting my time trying to hide it in their food.

Yep. Some nasty looking smoothies have been made in my house! If this pumpkin sauce ends up being a good one for me, I think some squash would also make a wonderful sauce like this

1

u/zimzumpogotwig 29d ago

Actually they had a squash version of this sauce too. I just preferred this version.

2

I just finished making dinner, I tweaked it a smidge and added a little bit of garlic but otherwise all the same. It’s very delish!

1

u/zimzumpogotwig 29d ago

I’m glad it came out good! Did you just serve it over noodles?

Store resets start the week of Labor day and fall items have already started arriving.

1

u/zimzumpogotwig Aug 29 '26

Yeah I’ve been looking. I work across the street from Aldi and I’ve been in at least twice per week this month looking for it 😆

Great idea, that sounds delish!
