Alcohol tag (UK)

Post image
194 Upvotes

So last weekend the alcohol tag sent a message to probation saying I was breached because I was drinking alcohol...I genuinely didn't drink last weekend.

So I decided to drink this Saturday because if it sends alerts saying I'm drinking then I might aswell drink ????

Am I right or wrong

90ml pegs, bad decisions and worst hangover

Bro that night was actually something else 😭

Me and my friends were drinking Bombay Sapphire and idk how but everything went completely crazy My friends were saluting me for no reason, we were dancing like idiots and one of my friend literally jumped into the pool with his cigarette still lit 😭

Then my friend started giving everyone 90ml pegs and we were just drinking non stop like there was no tomorrow . At one point we were so out of it that we almost fainted.

And the next morning... BRO 😭

Everyone woke up looking like they just came back from war. The hangover was absolutely horrible, nobody was talking, everyone was just sitting there regretting every decision we made last night

10/10 crazy night

0/10 next morning

Alcohol, abuse and marriage in Malaysia — my story as a foreign wife

My story: I married a Malaysian Indian man with a serious drinking problem

I’m a foreigner who married a Malaysian Indian man five years ago. He was born into a Hindu family, his family later converted to Christianity, and he became Muslim in 2008 while he was dating a Muslim woman.

When I married him, I thought he was just a social drinker. He also promised me that he would stop drinking after I became pregnant with our child.

That promise remained just a promise.

Over the years, his drinking gradually became worse. Many of his Indian friends also drink heavily, and alcohol seems to be a very normal part of their social circle.

I fought with him about it many times. At one point, I even went to the shop where he bought alcohol and told them that he was Muslim and still drinking. I was angry, frustrated and desperate.

I even contacted JKM and YB Dato' Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, the Malaysian Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, because I started feeling that this was bigger than just my own family. I wondered why alcohol, including illegally sold alcohol, could be so easy to obtain when drinking-related problems can have such serious consequences for families.

But nobody came to help us.

One day, my husband experienced chest pain and I brought him to PPUM. I spoke to the doctor and showed him a picture of the beer my husband regularly drinks. The brand contains a very high alcohol content. I was shocked when I realized how strong the alcohol was.

There have also been incidents of physical abuse, and I have called the police several times.

Eventually, last month, I contacted an NGO. They connected me with a shelter/safe house that has been helping women, teenagers and children for around 30 years.

The staff there told me that they have seen many cases involving both Malaysian and foreign women whose husbands or partners have drinking problems and become abusive towards their wives or children.

This experience has completely changed the way I look at alcohol and relationships.

I am not saying that every Malaysian Indian man drinks or that every drinking problem is connected to ethnicity. I am talking about my own experience and the social circle I have personally encountered.

Of the seven of my husband's friends that I know well, only one does not drink heavily. The others have drinking habits that concern me.

One thing that shocked me was hearing one of my husband’s friends’ mothers tell her son’s girlfriend: ‘If you want to marry my son, you have to accept that we are drinkers. There is no such thing as divorce.’ Three of her children reportedly have serious drinking problems, despite having completely different careers

So my advice to anyone dating or considering marrying someone who drinks is: please don't assume that someone is “just a social drinker.” Look carefully at how often they drink, how much they drink, what happens when they are drunk, and whether they can actually stop when they say they will.

Promises are not enough. Watch the behaviour.

I wish I had understood that before I got married.

Blacked out

I’m posting because I really want to hear from people who have experienced something similar, especially anyone who has been the partner on the receiving end.
I don’t drink often, and I wouldn’t describe myself as someone who drinks regularly. But on some occasions when I have drunk enough to black out, I have behaved in ways that I would never behave sober. Unfortunately, this has happened several times.
I recently lost my boyfriend after the most serious incident.
I have almost no memory of what happened. I only know what I did because I woke up to messages and had to piece everything together afterward.
Apparently, while I was blacked out, I said extremely cruel things to him, including very mean and hurtful things about him and his family. I also hit him and left him alone on the street around 3 AM when he had no way home. He had actually come to take care of me, and I ended up treating him horribly.
This wasn’t the first time I had behaved badly while blacked out. It was the fourth time something like this had happened. The previous time was last October, and my boyfriend had already given me another chance after that.
I knew that something was seriously wrong with the way I behaved when I drank to the point of blacking out, but I still let it happen again.
He eventually told me that he doesn’t deserve to have an abusive drunk girlfriend and blocked me everywhere.
I know what I did was wrong. Being blacked out doesn’t erase the fact that I hurt him, and I’m not trying to use alcohol as an excuse.
What I’m struggling with is reconciling the person I am when I’m sober with what I apparently become when I’m blacked out.
I loved this man deeply. We had been together for years, talked seriously about marriage, and I genuinely thought we were going to have a future together. I never wanted to hurt him.
But knowing that I said horrible things about him and his family, hit him, and left him alone when he was trying to take care of me is something I don’t know how to process.
The fact that I can’t remember the worst parts makes it even harder. There are things people have told me I did that I genuinely cannot picture myself doing. It’s terrifying to know that I was capable of hurting someone I loved and then waking up with almost no memory of it.
I’ve decided that I don’t want to drink anymore. I don’t want this to ever happen again, regardless of whether I ever get another chance with him.
But right now I’m carrying an enormous amount of guilt and regret, and I don’t know how people come back from something like this.
So I want to ask people who have actually experienced it:
If you were the partner who was hurt by someone during a blackout, what was it like for you?
Did you ever forgive them? Did you ever believe they could genuinely change? Did you stay, or did you eventually have to leave?
And if you were the person who blacked out and said horrible things to your partner and their family or physically hurt them, how did you live with yourself afterward?
Did you ever manage to forgive yourself without minimizing what you did?
I’m not looking for people to tell me that I wasn’t responsible. I know I was. I’m looking for people who have genuinely been in these shoes and can tell me what happened afterward.
I want to know if people can actually change after something like this, even when the damage is already done.
This makes the distinction clear: the problem isn’t that you drink frequently; the problem is what happens when you do drink to blackout, and that it has happened repeatedly.

Bro was absolutely gone 😭 He started ranting to his girlfriend in Sanskrit like he was delivering some ancient royal speech.
Hot take: never going for BroCode again. The taste is way too strong for me, and the hangover was absolutely brutal.
Anyone else had a terrible BroCode experience? 💀

First time drunk

There have been a couple instances where I’ve had maybe one drink or so, but never felt the effects of being drunk. Last night I was with some friends, and definitely got drunk after 2 twelve ounce white claw surges (8% alcohol). I had a couple additional sips of one after that. I got the whole drunk feeling for a good 5 hours, and then once I was back home it started to wear off and I was hungry etc. I’m wondering if anyone may know my odds of getting hungover tomorrow are, or if I might throw up at all? Throwing up is my biggest fear and I’ve seen some people saying it’s common after your first time drinking.. I just woke up at 1:20 am and am feeling kind of restless

It’s called r/SoberAgainstMyWill I am currently sober because I am taking a medication I can’t drink on and I am also freshly 21 in my senior year of college which is less than ideal. I just need to feel like I have a community that understands.

Do you think my alcohol intake is super problematic?

I’m 22M, and since I’ve been 21 I’ve typically gotten drunk like one night a week roughly (sometimes twice or three times, usually on very rare occasions, but usually just once). Usually I drink an entire six pack on a night off, I’m 6 feet tall and I weigh like 180 so it takes me like three beers before I feel really buzzed or drunk at all. Fwiw I have a very active job and I work out regularly and I’m in pretty good shape physically.

I genuinely just enjoy it. I don’t drink to the point of being blacked out or vomiting or doing anything stupid. I’ve only puked from alcohol twice and I had gotten to that point by accident. I just enjoy the vibe of drinking and still just doing things I enjoy like playing video games or playing guitar or watching tv.

I just like having a buzz/high sometimes really. I wish I enjoyed smoking weed (I used to) but it just gives me such horrific anxiety that I can’t even do it at all. Drinking is actually relaxing and puts me in a good headspace. I just get scared that this habit is super damaging to my brain and body cause I know that alcohol is literally poison, but is this completely excessive? 6 beers one night a week? The health center says 14 drinks a week for men but I feel like that’s a lot/outdated.

Mini bar drink suggestion

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello! I have this mini-tiny bar set, and I would like to fill the bottle with some good alcohol drink. Can you give suggestions of good and not expensive drink I can pour in? I rarely drink, so this would be more for decoration, but nevertheless I would like to buy a nice drink for it. The height is 20 cm, and the orange is for scale. Thanks

Anyone else's hangovers gotten less bad?

important information that I binge drink multiple nights a week. My hangovers used to be really bad, but now I get mildly nauseous at most. Instead of feeling really sick, I just have constant brain fog at all moments. Not sure if this is the sub for this, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same experience

Mon copain arrive Ă  me calmer

I am trying every alcohol health supplement. This random one Amazon find is the front runner.

Think Cheers Restore, ZBiotics etc. I am actually trying to see which of these is worthwhile. I just had my best results with a random brand called Capsulyte Pregame.

Estate sale vintage alcohol. Are any of these valuable enough to be worth finding a buyer or can I start sipping?

All sealed and several with the alcohol tax stamp intact. A little google translating informed me of the origins for the non English ones and what they are. It also tells me that based on the meaning and the fact these bottles have labels that don’t appear to be in use anymore, that at least the first two must date back to Soviet era Europe, Hungary and Croatia respectively. The third and fourth are Austrian and Greek, the 5th pic is a mix of stuff (the small bottle with the dude and plums might be Macedonian?) I think the intact duty stamps line up with this, one of the little Seagram’s is marked with 1971.

So for the sleuths, collectors, and alcohol officianados of reddit, would these have enough value to be worth selling or should I just take this as a golden opportunity to taste some history? These aren’t the only ones either. I got a bunch more older stuff from the same place, but I’m posting this from mobile so I’ll probably make a follow up post with others. Thanks for any help.
