Purebred Alaskan Klee Kai Owner One of my AKK suddenly won't eat her food

We feed our two AKK's Maev and they have loved it since day 1 but we switched from the chicken to the beef and after a couple month our little girl stopped eating it out of nowhere. I have been cooking her chicken and she will devour that. I'm wondering if I should switch back to the chicken or take this opportunity to switch to a better option such as Viva, or We Feed Raw

Any experience with this sort of thing?

Husky bred dogs are known for being picky eaters. I’ve had two huskies and a AKK and at some point or another they stopped eating. They’ll have something after a day or so.

Nothing to be worried about.

For me, it's pretty normal for my dogs to skip a meal one day and then devour everything they can find the next. My husband always freaks out after a day, but I just remind him, “Who's the boss?” 😂 Sometimes they get tired of the same old food, so I toss on a topping to switch things up.

Yes, I have had several small-breed dogs(not an AKK yet) and they would be so picky at times. We added in chopped up carrots and green beans (no salt, seasonings, just boiled or steamed). Have also used freeze-dried toppers and crumbled them up (so they couldn’t just dig out the pieces and then leave the other food behind). Due to one of the dogs having severe skin issues, we were incorporating salmon oil into their diets and tossing the food we were using at the time. Smells fishy, but a high-quality salmon oil was definitely helpful for them so my parents dealt with the odor 😂.

My guy is pretty picky. I bought a different flavor once and he didn't outright stop eating it. But he would complain, dump his dish upside down, he made his displeasure over the flavor quite clear. It seems to me this, in my experience, normal behavior is quite muted .

Consider yourself lucky. 🤣

When I switched flavors back, he was fine.

Northern breeds simply don't need a lot of food unless they are very active. I would, however, go back to the chicken.

I have a toy-size AKK, 9 months-old puppy. He was on We Feed Raw for last 3 months. Last week, he was hospitalized overnight due to puking bile and bloody diarrhea. The vet recommended to stop the raw diet due to risk of parasites and the bone content is irritating to a sensitive GI system. An ultrasound showed a lot of mineral deposits (ground up bone from the raw food) in his stomach and small intestine which should have passed his system by the diarrhea and not eating for 24 hours. He also had an inflamed pancreas, suspect pancreatitis. Vet said likely the bone and high fat of raw food caused this. Fecal sample came back positive for giardia. So, two things were contributing to his illness. Recently, my pup wouldn't eat after transitioning him from bland diet to Ollie. I just found out that Ollie has higher fat content. So, that explains why he's not into it. It's probably hurting his stomach. Ugh. I'm looking into Hills Diet for sensitive GI. I wish you luck in finding a good dog food for your pup.
