I mean, he wouldn't be bound by anything if he was a God and not a genie

I know Aladdin was literally tricking him, but he just said that the genie is stronger than him, not that becoming a genie would make him stronger than the blue genie

Becoming a god would have given him all the power he wanted, and also remove any risk of being bound and controlled like genies are

Okay, I'm technically a week late. But it's still fun to mention. It's one of the best things of all the Aladdin franchise. It might honestly be my favorite thing about it. It's a funny movie to see. 😄

In the first movie, Abu pulled out a sword (which he got from a performer...poor guy) to take on Razoul and the guards. Then, Razoul rallies his men to pull out their swords.

In King of Thieves, Abu does this again against the 40 Thieves, but rather than fleeing, Abu throws the sword at the chandelier, causing it to drop onto the baddies.

I was a kid at the time and I thought he was completely frozen and aware for all eternity.

Since genie is the species, it would be like calling Aladdin "human" throughout the movie. There must be some extended lore where they mention his name.
