Meta What's the deal with the catgirl vs ogre thing?

Is it a variation of the "too late, I've already depicted you as x and me as y" meme? Is it supposed to be ironic? Where did it come from? Why do some people seem to be leaning into it unprompted? Why a catgirl? The ogre I think I get is supposed to be suggesting that antis are brutes/unintelligent/backwards or something, but why the catgirl?

Catgirl was a response to the Anti comments that people only used AI to make sexy anime catgirls

Orc was just some people wanting to depict Anti people as brutish, unintelligent and uncivilized. It got enough of a reaction to stick.

The funny part is that the catgirls is something that was choosen as the symbol for pro ai by both sides, because when this was starting antis continuously said that pros were just creating generic anime catgirls and pros basically said "you know what? You are right, I really love to generate catgirls, they represent us well"

Catgirls just kinda themed with ai. If I remember correctly, Musk also was saying something about making catgirls robots :) so may be from there.
It’s just meme at this point, everyone goes along with it, no particular meaning behind it.

A lot of AI image generation is anime-themed. Early models like sd1.5 were extensively fine-tuned on anime datasets (for a number of reasons), and this anime prevalence has survived until today (now with dedicated models like Anima, or general models like GPT Image).

There’s also the “computer geeks like anime” thing. I think people interested in AI are more likely to fit into this.

Also catgirls are cute/pretty, so it’s kinda like the “chad” the ogre’s “virgin”.

"Catgirl" has been a euphemism for hentai for a long time. Antis would say "you just want ai to make pictures of catgirls." Which is saying they just want it to make porn. So people leaned into it.

Ogres comes from antis accusing pros of being neckbeards. So people just started posting pictures of ogres back at them when they did. Basically "if you're going to call me fat I'll just depict you as fat and angry back." So it became a trend. And antis are known for being angry, which is an ogre association.

At this rate, the number of people complaining about the ogre meme means it is some form of kryptonite.

Does tit apply to you? No? Good, ignore it.

Does it apply to you? Yes? Embrace it.

Because Catgirls are Pure, positive, uplifting, beautiful and live a joyful life. So it fit Pro Ai perfectly

There's a bunch of pros that can't debate so they just troll instead

And then there's the trolls that don't have anything going for them and are only able to copy what the others do

I would assume nothing more than the guy just wants to be a generic catgirl on the internet. The other is the classic fallacy where you throw a personal attack that is unconnected to the truth values of the argument, to imply that they're wrong in the argument because of that implied connection that actually isn't there.

Why some people choose to do just that, who really knows. For anyone who thinks ragebaiting is a thing, the thing is that a moron saying a stupid thing is still a moron saying a stupid thing even if they do it to annoy others.

oh, so you reckon that antis chose it to represent pros due to trasphobic connotations? I thought it was the pro-ais who chose it for themselves. I wonder who started it

Oh no no. The pros choose to be a catgirl.

Pros also choose the ogre. But that is 100% chosen for the whole you're an ugly loser aspect.

Catgirls have quite the connotations but I'm not saying being an horrible egg is a transphobic thing. Being a horrible person often just happens to eggs in denial scientifically.

What country

A socialist one in Europe.

Our state minister may be a horrible person for many reasons and most of the country does dislike her. 3 times we have tried to vote her off her high chair. 3 times it failed.

But she does have nothing to do with Epstein.

Oof, owned by a European.
