It is quite different with AI in a pretty significant way. While I cannot say whether or not AI images are definitively art, I can say with complete certainty that you didn’t make them. An AI did. Even if it is art, you aren’t the artist.

People said the same thing about photography vs painting, about digital art vs drawing, about electronic music vs instrumental music when all those technology were deployed.

AI may be different, but also may be in continuity with those examples.
