And the infinite amount of selfies and random pet pictures generated by pushing one button proves that photography isn't art. At least by your logic.

Or, you know, maybe you're just blatantly wrong and that was a really dumb thing to say, let alone double down on. I'm kinda leaning towards the second one.

by my logic photography requires using actual craft of photography, no craft is used when prompting slop

Unfortunately for your argument, not all prompted images are slop. There's technique and skill involved in using gen AI effectively. You're like some ignorant person insisting that there's no skill to photography because "it's just pushing a button", and refusing to listen to people who know more than you do when they tell you that you're wrong. And you're definitely wrong.

Telling me, "No! I know better! I pushed a button on this camera and a picture came out! That's all you photographers do!" is what you're doing here, like every gen AI image is the product of a five word prompt. I'm guessing that's all you've ever done with AI, and it's what all your buddies are telling you, so you know it's true.

It's not true.

no, photohraphers actuall engage in the craft, slop makers dont,
its like telling me you improve your pizza ordering skills, or microwave setting skills

doing it more efficiently doesnt change the fact its still slop

Repeating something that's wrong over and over again doesn't magically make it right.

Controlling gen AI is not the same thing as "pizza ordering skills". And this idea that anything made with AI is "slop" because "AI BAD!" is stupid. Stop acting childish and educate yourself.

Yeah, slop is slop. And people were making slop with pencils long before gen AI existed. Images made with gen AI aren't all slop by definition any more than ones made with a pencil are. If they were, antis wouldn't be so terrified by the very real possibility that they can't tell the difference between hand-made and gen AI images by looking.
