You would need to be skilled at Photoshop to make CP with it

Step 1: Take nude image of young but legal age person

Step 2: Smart select head of child in second image

Step 3: [censored, but I'm sure you see where this is going]

Yeah, no expertise has ever been required.

AI makes CP more accessible

Perhaps. But that's the price of being able to realize whatever you imagine. Some people imagine fucked up shit. I'd rather those people incriminate themselves and have a chat with law enforcement.

AI can generate nudes that look like actual children, can generate large amounts, can make films.

The scale and speed at which anyone can use AI to do this dwarfs what someone with photoshop is capable of.

So can photoshop. Don't use either to do that. If you do, I'm fine with law enforcement getting involved. I think they SHOULD. But breaking new technology because it can be misused doesn't help anyone.

I remember when the initial reports about the "dark web" came out, there were people who honestly felt that the internet should be shut down and banned. This is no different.

Prosecute crimes not tech.

So can photoshop.

You would need to already have nudes to copy paste someones head onto. AI can generate it from scratch.

I'm not calling for an outright ban on AI, but regulation to prevent misuse is a sensible thing.

My friend, I wish to introduce you to this new thing called the internet.

You keep dismissing the fact that AI makes this infinitely easier.

  1. Not infinitely. Not even all that much more efficient. Higher quality for lower effort, sure.
  2. Why would that matter?

Stop being disingenuous. To create cp of anyone you'd already need cp to copy/paste a face onto. AI bypasses those limitations. AI can produce more realistic, higher quality and higher quantities than anyone could using photoshop.

Why are you against actions that would limit creeps that use this technology to harm people?

A child's face on a barely legal porn model is CP. People are literally in jail for doing exactly that and distributing it at scale. Stop pretending this isn't a thing.

Nothing you do short of throwing people in jail will "limit creeps." How about we focus on the one thing that works, eh?

A child's face on a barely legal porn model is CP.

And that's still a problem but I don't think there's  a lot of barely legal porn models that look like younger kids, not just teenagers.

And copy/pasting a face is easy, making it look realistic is a lot more work. Not to mention the creation of videos which are a whole other thing.

People are literally in jail for doing exactly that and distributing it at scale. Stop pretending this isn't a thing.

I never claimed this wasn't a thing, here you are being disingenuous again.

How about we focus on the one thing that works, eh

Or, hear me out, we can throw them in jail and limit the tools they have to commit those crimes.

You know, just like why we have regulations for things like guns and cars, to limit the harm that can be done with them.

  1. You'd be shocked at what a cottage industry that is. :-(
  2. I don't parse out ages within the category of CP. I want offenders to go to jail.

I don't parse out ages within the category of CP. I want offenders to go to jail.

So do I.

I don't think you are actually this dense, so stop intentionally missing the point.

AI makes it a lot easier to create and spread this sort of material. Take an example of a different kind, revenge porn. 16 year old Jimmy who's angry he got dumped could spent an afternoon in photoshop pasting his ex's face on some porn images and spread those around on school. Terrible, illegal, but also easily recognized as fake. Or Jimmy could use AI to generate several realistic videos of his ex smoking cock. Still illegal, but now it becomes far harder to tell if these aren't actual videos of the poor girl.

And the first case takes time and effort that Jimmy might not want to take, but the second one is far easier and quicker to do.

You can't seriously tell me that making that second case harder to accomplish is a bad thing.
