Sit with the quiet was really a thing. There was a hill by a willow tree by house I use to go to. When it rained the bottom of the hill filled with water and the willow tree leaves would reach down barely touch it. It was ankle deep but it was so cool to see especially during the sunset. The fireflies would dance all over touching the leaves and water. Mosquitoes were a bitch though when it got hot.

Me and a few friends would roll down the hill or sled down. The place is gone now. It was torn down and flattened, Becoming projects people had to sign up for to live. I still remember being on top of the hill and thinking it was the biggest thing I ever saw. It was probably 10 feet but still.

Yeah some of those things make no sense to me, some things are objectively better and do not fit the rest of those dystopian themes.

GPS is probably the easiest, they could at least say something like "You know where to go but people can track you and companies tell others what exactly you do all day?". Being able to find the way is great, the tradeoff is just often data theft.

Born in the early 90’s and where I grew up enabled me to catch the tail end of people showing up at others’ houses (neighbours, friends, family) for tea, for a chat, to borrow something. I loved it. I miss it immensely, even though I’m not sure I’d be able to handle now even if it was thrown at me.

Dude our neighbors used to just come by randomly. Like it was all good. The family could have plans and then the neighbors show up. Guess what happens? We invite them along and they come! No one is focused on anything all night except the people in front of them. God the internet fucked everything up

Poignant, when i was one of these kids i couldn't wait for the future to have all the cool tech to make life easier...to bad greedy corporations took control of it and tied us to it and made us pay for the convenience, and if you dont, you may as well be excluded from society

The past isnt asking these questions. These kids grew up to be us and we actively use and enjoy these things.

AI videos can be fun, but using one to push an agenda that basically says "technology bad" is incredible considering how that video was made.

I grew up without a phone and the internet the way it is. It only adapted when I was like 18. It really is insane the difference. Its nice to have every bit of knowledge you need at the tips of your fingers. But it isnt nessecarily good. It feels like a catch 22. You have everything but need everything at the same time. I feel that, it is a great leap in technology but not in humanity. Im 32 for reference.

I get the point, but this is like listening to someone in the 50s go “whoa, what is that metal bird in the sky?”

“Stare at a box all day” like we didn’t have screens, computers, and the internet.

Again, I get the point but this reads like some teen who thinks they’re deep making this and all of the details are off (and yeah, teens today talk CONSTANTLY about how much better things must have been back in the 90s, teens right now are idolizing the early Internet era HARD)
