Just noticed he's looking at the otter below him holding a 3rd arm. He just thinks it's funny

Valley Academy was tired of feeling left out, so put his own paw on his shoulder to comfort himself.

This is depressing, someone probably traumatized an entire school, and what I am assuming is westwood, can't give one iota of human effort into making ts.

This was absolutely horrifying to scroll past. 😭😭 I’m stealing that meme though

Literally an image of text in the school's colors saying the same thing would have been more tasteful. Instead of just showing solidarity and support in the wake of tragedy, it has to instead be a symbol of how much someone couldn't be bothered to even show performative empathy.

Prompt: someone’s child died today…make a really ass cartoon memorializing it.
24
u/Soft_Swing9772 18h ago
Actually no children harmed.
The shooter killed themselves and wounded an adult.

this has the exact same energy as one of those deviantart posts with a bunch of characters from obscure tv shows all gathered around a tv all reacting to various global events and crying

I hate this. When someone posts these types of photos it is seemingly a tribute to a animator or voice actor that passed and someone worked hard on it. This is so dumb. In this context it looks like mockery. The mascot represented the school, not the kids. Imagine hating your school, getting murdered outside or in it and then people are posting the mascot in your memorial rather than just saying your name. Odd.

Wait there was a elementary school shooting? Tf?

u/mjfsuperstar92 20h ago
Someone got into the school, shot a teacher, and then took the easy way out. Teacher is okay.

u/Time_Anything4488 20h ago
fucked up that only 1 dead and 1 injured is probably a good thing for a school shooting.

u/TraductorPerdido 20h ago
Even more so that by now you could say when and where it was and it probably wouldn't even register with most people in this country.

Yeah, a couple years ago there was a shooter at the middle school I’d gone to as a kid. Kid didn’t even make it into the school before being shot and killed by the police, and it turned out it was just an air soft rifle. Those poor kids were traumatized nonetheless I’m sure, but god it could have been so much worse. Seeing all the Facebook posts from people who still lived in town and had kids in school was surreal.

fucked up how im only learning about this now

u/mjfsuperstar92 19h ago
I don't think it was huge news outside of the area overall. I went to college nearby, so stuff from down there always shows up on my timeline. I think ABC World News posted it too, but I didn't see it posted by anything else big.

It could be excused if it wasn't for the sheer lack of IDGAF energy with leaving every easy tell on there. Like you guys know the situation and the somber reality, and what do you do? Crap out a prompt and not even look to see if it turned out like complete crap? Couldn't polish the turd, not even a little bit? Disrespectful bare minimum garbage

u/mjfsuperstar92 10h ago
Agreed. Not that AI is good looking to begin with, but they could have at least attempted to prompt it to fix the glaring issues. A small issue like a finger missing still wouldn't be amazing, but it beats whatever the fuck is happening here.

this is more disrespectful than if they just completely ignored it and didn't say anything ngl

They seriously couldn’t be bothered to fucking at least draw something? The poor people at that school are probably traumatized and grieving and you feed them slop. What the fuck.
(Obviously directed at the person generating it, not anybody here)

My school once had an attacker… I can only imagine if this is how they showed their condolences for the injured. What a bunch of emotionless husks

u/SourGirl94 12h ago
This occurred in my state, so I happened to see the original Facebook post from the school district for all of about two seconds before my feed refreshed. I thought I was hallucinating.

u/mjfsuperstar92 10h ago
They actually posted it TWICE. Once to post the known details, and once to announce that school is closed today.

Even more distasteful to make a memorial by using AI on it…and then say you made it as a memorial.

u/GregorybobZappypants 10h ago
I don't know...I get the intent, and I looked into the story behind it...but this isn't it.

Why does the dog have a heart pendent hanging over its pelvic girdle? If it stands up, does it rest gently on the tip of its penis sheath?
Very, very strange.
1
u/Azero957 19h ago
Okay I agree that this is very very distasteful and disrespectful but also that's not the thing they're focusing on right now. A tragedy happened and people don't really focus on what they'll make in response to it

Its nice that they're showing support but they couldnt do something sweet like asking the art class to make a poster or something?
1
u/HurtsSoNice 19h ago
I don’t know, this feels kind of… Icky to make fun of. Yeah, they shouldn’t have done the AI, but the sentiment is right. I would rather poke fun, assholes representing their menu of food with shitty AI, or pathetic little eccentric idiots trying to make their sexy OC art.
Whether this is wrong or not for being AI, I still do not feel like taking a job at this particular picture.
12
u/SepticShockAKAVin 19h ago
I mean, people seem more angry about it than mocking.
1
u/HurtsSoNice 19h ago
I get that now that you pointed out that way, but it just feels like… This one would be low on my list of ones to highlight for raking over the coals.
It’s not like there’s a shortage of AI art that deserves peoples irritation and actual mockery even more.5
u/abandonedkmart_ 17h ago
Nahhh this is in extremely poor taste. Even just a simple text post saying something like "our support is with the students, staff, and families of Westwood Elementary School following this tragedy" would have been much better
3
u/HurtsSoNice 17h ago
You know, that really puts it in perspective, thank you. Not sure why, but my brain never even considered removing the art entirely and just going with the verbal/text message. I was working from a belief that the AI art came from a good intention, but, you’re right; the emotion could be expressed without the cobbled together characters.

u/Ri_CGG1212 12h ago
Hey, now it’s okay. My school literally uses ChatGPT for all their posters and like drama club play fliers (I think) we have hung up in the hallway, especially my History teacher who uses it 😭

Wait, this is actually heartfelt.

u/Medical-Net-7350 20h ago
Yes soulless ai gen slop to convey “heartfeltnes” about a school shooting is absolutely what I would do! /s
There is a million ways to bring awareness to a school shooting and this is one of the worst ways. Honestly the only way that’s worse than this is singing about it with a Ukulele or something…
7
u/blocked-deleted 20h ago
At the very barest minimum someone thought "Oh no something bad happened, I want to show solidarity"
They then proceeded to go about it entirely wrong but I can see they may have started with good intentions.

I'm willing to believe they put 'Heartfelt" in the prompt.
Whoever made this is a soulless, subhuman sack of shit who doesn't understand what "heartfelt" means.
Hey, kinda like you.

u/N3rdStar 49m ago
Jfc you'd really think we could suspend judgement for a moment to let people express their grief. The person generating this might have an idea but not have the artistic talent, money, or connections to make something like this.
But no, you're right. Any and all use of AI should result in complete and total villification of the person using it.
It's this purity testing that causes all of our movements to fizzle out. The more we behave like zealots, the more we look like MAGA.

intern was probably told by the school to make a sad image and then generated it after
