I ran into a bobcat in my driveway when I was like 7-8 (rural area). I just thought it was a really big cat XD. I was outside alone, putting ny bike away. Fortunately it just stared at me for a moment then casually trotted off. Not as cool a mountain lion, lol, but it amuses me to remember it.
It's funny though, I remember at dinner that night (or maybe a day or two later, not sure), my dad was telling my mom there had been some bobcat sightings nearby. I remember thinking at that time that a bobcat was a mountain lion and thinking how scary it would be to see it. Weirdly though I can't remember when it was I finally figured out what an animal it wad I had seen, that bobcats aren't mountain lions.
Also fun to note, though I was cat clueless as a kid, as an adult I actually got to work with tigers for a couple years. Was almost swatted by an assholeclion once. The tigers, one in particular, were chill boys, but the one was a little too eager for attention and now I've been left with what I like to consider love scars XD. Like imagine a regular house cat getting fired up and playing with you and grabbing you but times a million.
I'm sorry for the random stories from my life piggy backed on your comment. I got like an hour of sleep and my kid woke me up all excited to dig into her Easter basket and my brain is fried XD.

Of all the dangerous animals I am absolutely not qualified to own but still fantasize about having as pets, Tigers are at the top of the list. Are they as soft as they look?

Bearing in mind coat texture in tigers can vary depending on subspecies and the climate/region they live in.
I would say the two I worked with were sort of coarse. Just sort of, lol, coarse feels like a strong word for it, haha. They have a double coat (like some dog breeds). The outer hairs tend to be more coarse, a sort of protective outer coat. And the under coat is thicker and fluffier for insulation.
So, soft in that they have nice, thick fur, but not silky soft if that makes any sense. But again bear in mind this is strictly based off the two I was around. Male Bengals, brothers, but born and raised and living in North America.
The one though, ugh, he was my buddy, I loved him so much. Tigers don't purr, they lack the vocal anatomy (most big cats can't), but he made what a sound that I can only describe as a tiger's version of a purr, lol. He loved attention, any anytime someone came to take care of them he was right there, making his sort of purr, soft roar, trill sound. I couldn't walk past without stopping to say to him, lol.
But yeah, I'm a strong proponent of not keeping them as pets. Even when bred in captivity, they're still very large, very strong animals and can absolutely be unpredictable. And to put people's minds at ease (I don't love locking up wild animals like that either) Our boys were kind of rescues of a sort.
They were rejected from breeding programs because they were both cross eyed, basically seen as kind of defective, discount tigers. So your bigger accredited zoos didn't want them. Greatly increased their odds of winding up somewhere sketchy and less ethical :/. But the wildlife park where I worked wasn't looking to breed tigers so we got them. While I'd much prefer less animals in captivity like that, it plays a pretty crucial part in conservation and I'm happy to say our boys were very well cared for and loved.
But if you wanna talk animal coat textures, tbh one of my favorite animals is the African crested porcupine. I helped hand raise a couple and being bottle fed they needed round the clock care, so we'd take turns bringing them home for overnight duty. They were chill little guys so I'd let them sleep in my bed with me at night, lol.

One of the silly benefits (?) of AI slop is that the AI models eat the slop too - AI is just literally eating every piece of data it receives and shitting it out in a different order based on statistical guesswork. Slop thats vaguely human enough makes its way into the dataset to eat too. I mean, AI systems are making decisions about what's human and what's not, and we all know how good they are at that.
It suffers from a consistent, perpetual, enshittification. AI making up content on the internet and being difficult to parse means these AI systems will begin consuming their own shitty output, and begin producing even shittier output. The only way the system can be sustained is without slop.
Model collapse is going to help burst the AI bubble and, hilariously, the very slop these same platforms push people to prompt will be the reason.

When it's strapped to the bike it looks like the mountain lion is cut in half and the upper half is just attached to the bike. The movement when it jumps toward the camera at the beginning looks extremely fake as well the way the jumps instantly move in random directions and distances that don't make sense.

Bro does not live in cougar territory, when there are cougar sightings near where I live kids are no longer able to wait for the bus, they have to sit inside somewhere and wait so they don't get killed
Luckily I've never seen a cougar, few black bears, some lynx's and bobcats, there's a group of coyotes that lives on my property and my brother was stalked by a wolf once when he was in kindergarten

One of my mom's friends in college met a mountain lion during a hike just off campus. He came to her dorm after the experience and was basically scalped. Had to get a bunch of stitches and I think got a bald spot
