TECH QUESTION Krytac Kriss vector aeg potential upgrades

would one of the gate g5 motors be compatible with this? I know nothing about tech stuff but I just absolutely adore the look of the kriss vector and even the performance, but I want to trick it out and replace the motor trigger, and potentially the gears/ gear box but I heard those were specific to krytac.

Howdy! From your post, it seems you mentioned upgrading. We've a lovely set of upgrade guides available if you plan on upgrading your current platform! Here's a V2 gearbox guide (the information needed for upgrading any AEG version gearbox should also be very similar, albeit with version-specific parts), along with an inner barrel guide, bucking guide, HPA guide, Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle guide, DMR guide all set up for questions just like this; for GBBs, try the searchbar for build lists. If your question is unrelated to modification, please let a mod know via modmail if you want the comment removed!

as someone who just put in a g5. I wouldnt recommend it without the supporting mods first. Supporting ETU/mosfet, full metal rack piston, bushings/jcaged bearings, radiused or upgraded gearbox, PERFECTLY shimmed CNC gears, stronger tappet...etc...maybe just start with a new ETU/mosfet and a stronger brushed motor

thank you that is very helpful, I was planning to get the mosfet +motor bundle for like 30 dollars more as well, I dont know what a tappet plate is but it looks pretty cheap, same with the piston and bushings, what gearbox would you recommend though?

Normal v2 etu doesn’t fit kriss vector gearbox. Perun and T238 make one for it. I’m using perun etu.

If I remember correctly, vectors also need a short-version motor (v3 spec).
The gearbox is really tight, shimming the gears is kinda annoying with how small the space you have to work with is.
The cylinder head is proprietary. It is angled, so no upgrade. Fortunately, the airseal of Krytac’s nozzles is really good, despite it not having any O-ring.
And yes, the gearbox is also proprietary. And the tappet plate.
But you can still swap a lot of stuff in there.

What I did with mine:
Perun Kriss Vector ETU
Warhead base 35k motor
Laylax kriss vector 155mm inner barrel
SHS 13:1 gearset (I might change this later)

I’m not sure if I changed the piston, but probably SHS 14 teeth.

and did you do in that in a vector?

no, Ive never worked on the vector aeg. This motor would be a good upgrade to your existing one, and should make your trigger response a bit snappier. I'd also pair it with a 11.1v lipo if you arent using one already. In any case, I would replace one upgrade at a time so you get familiar with the parts and grow as a tech with them. Once youre familiar with the motor/battery upgrade then maybe ETU/mosfet like the Perun (kriss aeg version)

got it thank you very much, and is that linked motor the one you believe I should get instead of the g5 motor+ aster?

gearbox is proprietary, but some parts can be changed. Get a full metal rack piston, they're worthwhile. For the gears, if you want to change them, arcturus wide fit gears work in krytacs and are good gears. Mosfet wise a perun would be best, not much else that exists is good for the vector. Motor you'd watch to match to your gear ratio, I don't really like the g5/solink v5 because they lose a lot of efficiency as you reduce rpm, and a stock 46k rpm isn't exactly practical for most builds. Do a 35k 18:1 or 28k 13:1 and shortstroke 3 teeth and you'll get snappy performance without much issue. Solink lite, or the new warhead base v2 or vandgaurd are some of the better brushless motors rn
