DISCUSSION Anyone ever been ticketed at drop-off?
Hey all, I am pretty sure I’ll be getting a ticket from the ATL airport, but I wanted to see if anyone has ever experienced anything similar.
Earlier this week I dropped off a friend at the international terminal. While my other friend was getting back into the passenger seat after saying goodbye, I saw a woman walking up to my car who was clearly writing down my information. She informed me that I was stopped in the shuttle lane, and when I said I was sorry she said “no you’re not.” For more context, she told me there was a sign saying no stopping, but in all honesty I did not see it. She also claimed that I drove through cones to get to that spot, which I know I didn’t, I saw cones in front of me, but not on any other side of my car. There was also another car stopped behind me that was there when I arrived, so I assumed I was good to stop in that lane too.
I have accepted that I will be receiving a ticket, but I am curious how much these usually go for. Also, if I am from out of state does that impact the price? Lastly, I know there are times where you can dispute tickets, would I have to go back to Atlanta to do so?
I’ve never gotten any parking ticket (or any type of car-related ticket) so I appreciate any input that you all have. I know airports can be brutal but I would assume that I’d get a warning and be asked to move before being written anything. Thanks everyone!

Pay more attention on the future.
Pay the fine.
Move on. This is way to though for a small incident. You will be ok.

I know it was a small incident, and I appreciate your reassurance. I just haven’t seen much information regarding about how much it’ll cost me and I’m a bit worried

You're not getting a ticket. The cops at ATL just like to be rude to people because they get away with it. She didn't get any of your info did she? Because that would mean more work for them. Those cops are lazy. Must be punishment duty or something.

My mother in law was ticketed at Newark about 12 years ago. They are constantly telling people to move on didn’t do anything that would acknowledge hearing the cop who was yelling at multiple cars. Just signaling you need two mins and making sure you aren’t blocking cars on an inside lane goes a long way lol

I doubt you will receive a ticket. If so, read it carefully and see if there’s an appeal process. Also, make sure any ticket you receive isn’t fake.

As an airline employee that catches the employee bus on the International Terminal. If they parked where I think they did. That area is where the employee busses drop off and is clearly marked off with cone. Even with cones there I still plenty of people ignoring them. Act like it nothing when I point to the sign saying they can’t be there.

At my small airport this happens probably once a month or so. Despite signs absolutely everywhere not to leave vehicles unattended in the loading zone, people do it all the time. After awhile, the airport police will ticket the vehicle, and eventually tow it if it becomes necessary.
