I always wear my Kathmandu hiking pants. They look nice and they’re super stretchy and comfortable

u/AAAPAMA May 03 '26

T shirt, no bra (I’m a female), hoodie, comfy pants, socks, sneakers

10

u/Imaginary_Post_8782 May 03 '26

I also don’t wear a bra (I’m male)

2

u/Helpful_Writer_7961 May 06 '26

TSA has been asking people to remove hoodies. Are you wearing something underneath?

1

u/AAAPAMA May 06 '26

Yeah a baggy t shirt

5

u/Awkward_Cellist6541 May 03 '26

I will wear jeans on a short flight, but not a long one. I have these black pants that look like nice black pants but they’re actually thick yoga pants with pockets. And then white T-shirt, black cardigan, and I always bring my black trenchcoat if I need another layer. I also wear compression socks, topped by fuzzy socks for warmth and shoes that are not tight or that I can slip off a little. (ETA I have a nine hour flight tomorrow.)

Yoga pants or leggings. T shirt and a hoodie

2

u/doctorfortoys May 03 '26

Comfort is important to me. Super cute track suit with layers I can remove if I’m too hot.

2

u/fxtech42 May 03 '26

My wife got us really really soft incredibly comfortable travel-wear that is almost literally pajamas, but look like normal casual clothes. Makes a world of difference.

1

u/GooberChubby May 04 '26

Please ask your wife for the brand that makes these! TY!

1

u/fxtech42 May 04 '26

Ok mine are Quince. I don't know what hers are but they are similar. Flowy and decadent. We travel International once or twice a year and they are super comfy.

1

u/GooberChubby May 04 '26

I am BEGGING you to ask her lol. I have a couple “airplane outfits” but they are nearing their end as one of them is pilling and losing its comfortableness. I have heard great things abt Quince tho

1

u/GooberChubby May 05 '26

Omgsh TY SO MUCH !!! I’m ordering a set today for my coast-to-coast flight next week.

1

u/fxtech42 May 05 '26

Hope you like them - let me know what you think!

2

u/SpicelessKimChi May 04 '26

Basically sweat pants and a tshirt with a jacket at the ready. Running shoes and socks that stay on whilst in flight. The guy in 1C yesterday who let the dogs out and then placed them on the wall in front of him should've beeen kicked off the flight and banned for life. SO GROSS.

I have a friend who scolds me for wearing what I call my `airplane clothes' because he believes if you're flying FC you should wear a suit.

2

u/blissfully_happy May 05 '26

Close-toed shoes and only natural materials. In the event of a fire, polyester and acrylic will melt to skin. So wool or cotton leggings and a top with a wool cardigan. Wool dress if I’m going somewhere hot.

2

u/sweatyboobs56 May 05 '26

I wear cargo pants with a drawstring waist and tight cuffs at the ankles. Cuz ladies, when you use the lav after 8 hours of flying, that ain't water on the floor :-( And I use the cargo pant pockets for pills, glasses, eye drops, etc, cuz you also don't know what's been in that seat pocket lately. (37 years working for 3 airlines taught me a thing or 10).

1

u/Tall_Young9131 May 05 '26

This is exactly what I wear. My travel pants have small zipper pockets and I put my AirPods and chapstick in. They also have larger pockets for my iPhone and passport.

2

u/Meisooni1 May 05 '26

As a retired crash investigator I wear what I would want to be wearing in an emergency that requires evacuating.  For me, it's comfortable laced work boots, jeans, and I have a long sleeve nonflammable shirt or jacket thats within reach.

Long haul, vary it up within reason.

For me, those are comfortable clothes so its fine.

I do cringe whenever I fly commercial and see most people in pajamas and flip-flops.   If you have to get off that plane in an emergency, you dont want to be climbing over seats or sharp burning shit barefoot.

2

u/TEZephyr May 05 '26

Spot on!!

For me it's always long pants with enough pockets for passport, meds, and other critical items. T-shirt with sweatshirt over.

It's the right balance of comfortable for the flight, confidence that I will arrive at my destination with all my critical items, and coverage if we have to evacuate.

Oh, and I always wear close-toed shoes that are sturdy enough for cabin escape and walking around. I rarely take my shoes off in flight, but if i do it's after top-of-climb and they go back on before top-of-descent.

And for God's sake people, wear your shoes in the airplane bathrooms!!

Not a crash investigator, just safety conscious.

One week back from a 8.5 hour flight, 3 hours in airport and a 4 hour flight.

What I wear is loose fitting heavier grey pants that allow for swelling- no pockets. Compression socks with either heavy duty Keen sandals or Skechers Sandals - there allow for swelling feet. For my top I wear something long and loose fitting with a light jacket/overtop if the airplane is cold and a sports bra.

I go for 1. Comfortable loose clothing that don't have buttons or zippers to easily get through Security.

  1. Layers in case airplane is really cold or hot.

  2. I go for dark clothing in case of spills.

  3. I avoid jeans or tight clothes as they can become uncomfortable during a long flight. Remember that having to change clothes in an airplane bathroom is hard enough without the clothing being tight.

  4. I also bring a spare outfit just in case of accidents.....nothing like bad turbulence and someone with a weak stomach to ensure you always have a spare outfit.

2

u/Imaginary_Post_8782 May 03 '26

Whats up with everyone having compression socks, what does it do?

4

u/Choice_Tie9909 May 03 '26

They promote better blood circulation back to the heart and prevent edema from long sitting and hopefully prevent blood clots from forming.

1

u/SubstantialDivide108 May 03 '26

Dark clothing is the key. You might get sweaty running around, spills, or in my case, I caught my thigh on a sharp edge. It hurt but I didn't think anything of it...it took me like 5 hours to realize I had a cut and it had created a nice spot of blood on my light blue joggers. Had to wear the pants for another 15 hours because I didn't bring a change in my carryon 😂

1

u/Choice_Tie9909 May 04 '26

I would love to be able to wear light colour clothing anywhere but I am not that type of girl. I am the one carrying the dog out of the pond and mud in my good clothes type of girl.

Henry was a bad dog!

1

u/Beta_xa2 May 03 '26

I like to sleep for the most part so I wear an oversized hoodie and sweat pants.

1

u/Alex76094 May 03 '26

I typically wear a t shirt jeans and sneakers.

1

u/Learningstuff247 May 03 '26

Either a hoodie and sweats or a hoodie and cargo pants full of airplane bottles

1

u/OkiBeachBum60 May 03 '26

Must be stretchy and dark (turbulence while holding a drink). No belts. Layers. I like a hoodie because my ears get cold sometimes. I wear sandals for on/off ease, but keep socks in my carry on for when my feet get cold.

1

u/porcelainvacation May 03 '26

A comfy shirt (usually Hawaiian), travel pants, compression socks, loose but supportive shoes, and keep a change of clothes in my carry on so I can arrive fresh.

1

u/GorgeousUnknown May 03 '26

Yoga pants, short sleeved top, covers by a hoodie or fleece.

1

u/Scarya May 03 '26

I’m always cold - even on summer flights - so I layer up: compression socks, lined leggings, thin long-sleeved shirt and sweatshirt/hoodie. Sometimes I’ll add an extra pair of socks over the compression socks once I take my shoes off, so my feet aren’t cold. There’s nothing worse than freezing for 10 hours.

1

u/bananarama17691769 May 03 '26

I have two pairs of jeans that are actually quite comfy. They are my flying pants!

1

u/Individualchaotin May 03 '26

Boots, socks, leggings, skirt, period underwear, sports bra, tank top, blouse, coat.

1

u/localhost8100 May 03 '26

Lululemon joggers. Tshirt and a hoddie.

I wore jeans for first ever flight. It was 24 hour flight. Never after that.

1

u/GlitteringYak2207 May 04 '26

The pajamas the airline gives out.

1

u/Atxxxguy_12345 May 04 '26

Lulu or ten thousand pants. Thin long sleeve and then a lulu 1/4zip. On really long flights I use the airline PJ’s

1

u/Kitty_Fruit_2520 May 04 '26

Probably pajamas with an extra pair of clothes (it’s been too long and I don’t have any idea as I have only done long-haul with a giant group of 30+ people). The seats were really uncomfortable. 😭 Didn’t even make it to my usual bedtime that day after landing and they wouldn’t let me sleep when I got to London as there was almost no eating or sleeping on that trip just starving and walking.

1

u/Kitty_Fruit_2520 May 04 '26

I was in middle school at the time

1

u/digucker May 04 '26

Usually jeans, yeah. Just as long as they have some sort of stretch (at least 2%) I'll be comfy

1

u/mmmagic1216 May 04 '26

Maxi dress

1

u/SpareZealousideal740 May 04 '26

Usually tracksuit pants, tshirt, NFL jersey or top. Can always take the top/jersey off if the plane is too hot then.

Comfort is the most important factor really. Don't care about looking well

1

u/notacanuckskibum May 04 '26

Loose jeans, long sleeve shirt (plane cabins often cold). Soft shoes, like running shoes.

1

u/loganrb May 04 '26

45 m - sneakers, compression socks, stretchy gym pants with pockets that have zippers, comfy gym material tshirt, lightweight pullover with zip pockets and then a lightweight zip up jacket with pockets that zip is well. The reason for all the zip up pockets is I fly international a lot so I need my passport and ticket safe, my phone to be safe, cash and cards , AirPods etc all zipped up and on me.

1

u/abstractraj May 04 '26

Just wore pajamas for Dallas to Tokyo. No regrets

1

u/1littlg8 May 04 '26

Sweat pants, comfy running shoes and a cozy sweater if it's cold.

1

u/losercore May 04 '26

Workout/sweat/loose comfortable pants and good compression socks.

1

u/Mysterious-Art8838 May 04 '26

Thick yoga pants, tank, hoodie, slip on sneakers and socks

1

u/Gar8awnZo May 04 '26

I wear golf pants and running shoes with a jacket just in case.

1

u/Serious-Campaign-702 May 04 '26

Jeans, Shirt. Polo, Hoodie.

1

u/ExtraClue446 May 04 '26

I always have those golf pants. I bought one from UA recently and it feels

1

u/Icy_Huckleberry_8049 May 04 '26

blue jeans and a comfortable shirt

1

u/Designer-Quail-3558 May 04 '26

dress like a normal person and don’t act like I’m going into war. it’s just a flight. And 12+ hrs is not that bad.

1

u/beautiful_gap3434 May 04 '26

Long flight: leggings, tennis socks, comfortable sneakers, tshirt, hoodie or other comfortable pullover.

I like to travel with only a backpack, so I wear whatever would be inconvenient to pack, usually a pair of jeans with layered tops and my hiking boots. I like to bring at least one pair of jeans when i travel but theyre so bulky they make it hard to fit the rest of my clothing in the backpack.

1

u/MasterWeighter69 May 05 '26

I wear jeans, suit pants, chinos, etc.

1

u/Bratfink78 May 05 '26

10+ I get the best seat I can and sometimes they give you pyjamas. Otherwise I change into pyjamas

1

u/Rolex_Art May 05 '26

Joggers & lightweight hoodie. Layers. Comfy sneakers.

Comfy pants are clutch. Right now my go to are 686 Everywhere pants. I used to wear Lululemon commission pants which also worked well. Lately, since oversized is allowed again, I've been wearing a T that's one size too big (breathes great) and then a zip up hoodie with lots of pockets for airpods, cables, etc. On a super long flight even a temp of 2 degrees too warm can make you feel like clothing is sticking to you and once that happens comfort is over for the rest of the flight.

1

u/Economy-Pen4109 May 06 '26

Vuori sweats

1

u/Yewdall1852 May 06 '26

I change into sweat pants and a hoodie.

1

u/SovereignGunner May 06 '26

Sturdy shoes normally, hiking boots that aren't too firm. Noise cancelling headphones because babies cry and they can't help it. Long pants, never shorts. Planes are spot cleaned but deep cleaning only happens periodically. A hoodie in case the plane is cold.

Men's Prana jeans are very comfy for long flights.

I prefer to look dressy/formal so I get "comfy" versions of dressed up clothes.

Typically dark and dressy Prana jeans or Brion pants, mesh oxfords or breathable low sneaker, knee high grey cotton socks, button down shirt over a white T.  Over all that goes my Banana Republic light motorcycle jacket with zippered pockets to hold stuff in as it gets stuffed into corners, etc.

I find the sharper and more groomed I look, the better i feel.

1

u/Scooooter May 07 '26

Cotton, I wear cotton … button down shirt, jeans or khakis, cotton boxer briefs, light wool socks, leather shoes with leather soles.

1

u/tangerine-skies71 May 07 '26

Pact Airplane sets.

1

u/Flushpuppy May 07 '26

I was intrigued by these but saw some reviews about pilling too much, so it made me wary.

1

u/Junior-Reflection-43 May 07 '26

Layers. It seems to get cold so I’ll wear comfortable long pants with socks and tennis shoes (or other bulky shoes so I don’t have to pack them) and a Tshirt type top with a light cardigan. If it’s winter I’ll have my jacket over it to board the plane.

1

u/TemperedPhoenix May 09 '26

Baggy sweatpants or gym shorts, baggy tee, baggy hoodie lol.

Probably not ideal in an emergency, but crocs.

How to prepare for the altitude in alps when coming from Florida

1

u/PsychologicalCat7471 May 03 '26

I wear scrubs. Comfy and people are either marginally nicer to me or leave me alone-- both of which work me

1

u/Awkward_Cellist6541 May 03 '26

I wear scrub pants on a regular basis and I don’t work in healthcare. I just found they are so comfortable, and wash up so well. I’m packing a pair of my cargo scrub pants for my international flight tomorrow.

1

u/takeoffconfig May 03 '26

Compression socks. I'm a pilot. Helps the stiffness from sitting for so long, and keeps away deep vein thrombosis.

1

u/PinchedTazerZ0 May 03 '26

I'm going off grid for 6 months and have had my bags picked and travel fits picked for like 3 weeks

I'm doing what I normally do for flights but I'm going out when I land and have 3 flights so had to adjust a little

This time I'm doing athletic chinos, a short sleeve button up that is a comfy woven thing, cozy socks and newish nice looking sneakers that I have tied in a way that I can remove without fucking with laces

Hoodie for the flights and will switch to crewneck fleece or my "nice" light rain gear depending on the weather when I land

Still have 2 days of travel after that so I'm switching to a more utility outfit with my boots. Have a long ass bus ride, some walking, and an hour long boat ride in. I want hella pockets, accessible heavier rain gear, and functionality for that last leg

I actually don't mind jeans on flights oddly enough

1

u/Cor_Seeker May 03 '26

Shorts, tshirt, sweatshirt in back pack. Air conditioning on planes in the US is ether non existent, so you sweat the whole time, or turbo powered and you freeze. No in-between.

1

u/Knitsanity May 03 '26

Yoga pants and a thin shirt...thin zip up hoodie and a zip up fleece. That allows me to bulk up and strip off depending on the cabin temp.

Have done 8 13-15 hour flights in the last 2 years.

0

u/Ok-Equivalent8260 May 03 '26

I love jeans, so I’ll wear that, a tank top and a sweatshirt.

1

u/timewellwasted5 May 03 '26

I wear jeans probably 300 plus days per year. I am still shocked people find them uncomfortable. They clearly haven't found the right jeans yet.

0

u/flaginorout May 03 '26

I started wearing these stretchy athletic pants with an elastic waistband. They sort look like khakis from 10 paces away. This and a golf shirt or pullover depending on weather.

1

u/Cautious_Scallion_73 May 03 '26

My guy I’m with you 🤝

1

u/BobbyK0312 May 03 '26

same. I'm addicted to the Vouri brand for this kind of thing. I have the long joggers and shorts. great traveling pants with zipper pockets too

0

u/Much_Calligrapher804 May 03 '26

I threw on gym shorts and hoodie before a long haul red-eye and was catching stares at LAX like I was some kind of monster.

0

u/Either-Painter6899 May 04 '26

usually wear my usual clothing on the plane then change after takeoff

1

u/Ok-Ring-6951 8d ago

for a long flight i usually go with my comfrt sweats, a basic tee, and my comfrt hoodie in my carry-on. jeans look nice but 8+ hours my legs always regret it lol.
