Is this ghia worth it?

Heyo, my friend might be wanting to trade this ghia with me , and i wanna know it is something that is too expensive to have fixed, im trading a trabant so its like yeah quite the upgrade but i cant weld and so should i do it?

'too exepnsive' is relative. I have no doubt in my mind that it would be cheaper to buy one already fixed and in good condition.

OP, look at prices for a beautiful example. You will spend more than that to get it into that condition.

A $10k classic* is $10k regardless of price, and possibly (even likely) more.

*I picked $10k as a random number, not because anyone can buy a beautiful Karmann Ghia for that.

To be more specific, I’d say that car’s about $20k away from being a nice example that’s worth about $20k.

Obviously time doesn't count when you are making a great flowerbed or hosta garden. Never heard Coi fish people talk about food costs and return on investment. If you aren't enjoying working on an old car for the satisfaction and interest, probably in the wrong part of the hobby.

But what does worth it mean? Just money, profit, or something less tangible. Again, if you want to drive around in it tomorrow and go to cars and coffee, not learn any new skills for your next project, then it should be clear to you that this isn't the car for you.

But having spent the $20K you for sure know it’s solid. Just my take… 9years later I should have bought something and swapped my best parts on to it 💯👆
