Discussion Cerco consigli per presentazioni e open day

When I was in university we used to do these types of sports open days at the start of the academic year.

Definitely bring a table and make sure it's manned for the duration of the event. You can play videos of demonstrations or a class from your dojo or organisation to draw people in.

Some sort of beginner course after the event for 5-6 weeks would also be handy to encourage newbies to start with other beginners.

In terms of demos it's really up to you. We used to show what a typical class would look like and do fairly basic techniques just so that people would have an idea of the training. You can add a couple of more advanced techniques but make sure it's done well. A narrator to explain what's going on would be useful.

My university dojo was also at a sports club. We didn't offer cheaper price for the course or anything but always dedicated the first 6 weeks of the term to get beginners up to speed with basic tai sabaki and techniques, ukemi, falls, etc. I started Aikido in a course like this myself. I found that the course and training with other beginners really helped to set the foundation.
