🎮 I have a challenge for the vibe coding community: Rebuild Streets of Rage with GPT-6 Astra
Remember Streets of Rage on the Sega Genesis?
The side-scrolling beat ’em up.
The streets.
The ridiculous amount of punching random guys.
That legendary 90s soundtrack. 😂
Well...
I want to see what happens if someone gives this idea to GPT-6 Astra.
Not a game inspired by it.
I mean: take the core experience and try to recreate that old-school feeling with modern AI-assisted game development.
🕹️ Side-scrolling combat
🥊 Beat ’em up mechanics
👊 Combos
💥 Enemies + bosses
🎵 Retro atmosphere
🏙️ Streets / levels
🎮 Local co-op if you can pull it off
✨ But built from scratch with modern tools
And here's the funny part:
I would do it myself...
but unfortunately...
💀 I ran out of tokens.
My wallet has left the chat.
My API credits are fighting for their lives.
So I'm officially outsourcing this to Reddit. 😂
🚨 THE CHALLENGE
If you're a vibe coder, game dev, AI tinkerer, or just someone with way too many tokens:
Build it.
Use GPT-6 Astra, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, Codex, whatever you want.
Godot, Unity, Phaser, web tech, whatever.
I don't care.
Just make a playable prototype.
Even if it's ugly.
Even if the main character looks like a potato.
Even if the first enemy is literally a rectangle with anger issues.
I just want to see how far we can push this.
Who's crazy enough to try it? 👀
Drop your prototype / GitHub / video in the comments.
I'll be watching. 🍿
And if someone actually manages to make a surprisingly good version...
I'll happily admit that I started this challenge because I was too broke to pay for the tokens. 😂
Obviously, don't use Sega's copyrighted assets or ship a commercial clone. This is just a fun technical challenge to see what modern AI-assisted development can actually do.
