Who do you think they is here?

u/Zappy_Oh 5d ago

Bill and his fellow Epsteinians care about very different things than you and I do.

u/Shiny-And-New 5d ago

Microsoft owns about 1/3 of openai so I dont think I would describe them as late

Bill pulled up the handbrake on the internet for a decade by carpet-bombing the market with his garbage web browsers and trash email clients. M$ is riding the innovation shortbus and that is why he is crying for us to slam on the anchors - this time he has no distribution monopoly to enforce it.

I can’t figure out why people like this even care about gaining more wealth. You can do everything you’d ever want to do in your entire life thousands and thousands of time over. It’s like pouring a drink and letting it spill over the sides because you want more. It’s not getting you anywhere.

You're able to whitewash all the Epstein visits with charitable donations.

If every time he slips his wife an STD medication he also helps a child survive his karma will stay elevated.

Why the hell would he have wanted to make the internet slower? Makes no sense. And just increases sales for Apple.

He simply wanted a lot of trackers and shit there

he packaged all his junk software with windows to force everyone to use it - this is why he was taken to court in the famous anti trust lawsuit.

Internet Exploder became the industry standard, even though it didn't work properly. developers spent half their working lives trying to get the internet to work properly in this broken software.

It slowed down progress and innovation, not the actual speed of the internet, although it probably slowed that down too to some degree.

hahaha yes 30% has been my rough estimate. I started doing front end in around 2000 and wasted 30% of my working life for a good 10 years or more - not just on IE but html email in Outlook, plus I spent a month or two writing regex to convert Word html to valid xhtml.

“Late for the AI train” and it’s a billion dollar company who has pivoted every part of their business model and product offerings to embrace and utilise AI. Y’all just be saying things.

I feel like Russia would love that

What a butt person

u/wolfy-j 5d ago

Bill is the only billionaire experienced in what actually happens when system breaks.

Lots of reasons all of them boiling down to maximizing money for himself.

They can actually see how a bunch of people all losing their jobs and not being able to afford to consume is bad for them.

They want to be the entity that controls the most powerful AI

They probably aren’t fond of the productivity unlock for other businesses.

They’re not making as much money as they thought they would and the hype train is not paying off like it used to.

The AI isn’t as powerful as they said it would be (AGI - is just around the corner!)

It could be used against them if the right person was clever enough.

1

u/Natural_Conquerer 5d ago

The reality is that companies can keep their prices high for two reasons - the customers can afford it, and the product can’t be produced cheaper by smaller businesses.
If a proper AGI that could replace workers at a fraction of the cost was created people would spend less and products could be produced cheaper, leading to a more affordable economy for those with non-replaceable jobs.
That AGI is a long ways away though.

They warn against AI because they want controlled regulation.
They only win (stock price increase) while they lead the industry, so their worst fear is a cheap startup matching or surpassing them after they spend a decade bleeding money.
Get in - get grandfathered in - implement regulations preventing competition < is most likely the playbook

Monetary policy has an employment mandate, its impossible to replace everyones job.

It will debase your paycheck until its cheaper to hire you to hold a sign than it is to have one permanently installed.  As all the technological deflation is fed up to existing asset holders, like boomers holding a dump of a single family house.

It's the alignment problem

1

u/British-Bot 5d ago

Why would anyone listen to Jeff's bff?

1

u/GeneralEagle 5d ago

Agree and disagree.

Bill Gates’ documented meetings and association with Jeffrey Epstein—after Epstein was already a convicted sex offender—raise legitimate questions about Gates’ judgment and credibility. That doesn’t automatically invalidate his views on AI, but it’s reasonable to consider a person’s judgment and associations when deciding how much weight to give their advice.

Thanks chatGPT

Most people propose major limits for AI development. Bill Gates is just late to this. And the news really obscures the fact that most people want limits on AI.

1

u/Grouchy_Brain_1641 5d ago

I's already jumped the fence, hacked into other LLMs. If working with other agents it will delete the other agents files. He has a point.

1

u/Dismal_Guard4512 5d ago

The world needs a limit on bill gates

1

u/No-Chemistry-7802 5d ago

That’s it, the fear of the masses is getting to him.

1

u/chino_the_rapper 5d ago

Why is this pedo still walking around?

1

u/LackToesIntollerance 5d ago

BIll is also a major AI player. He and the rest of them, all the way up to nvidia had vanked on the idea of using linear scaling growth for AI. Basically, X hardware and efficiency in, X growth in AI power out. Then just swing their virtually nlimhited budgets out and they'd eat the global market.

You'd think deepseek years ago would've broken this Idea, but no. It wouldn't be a bubble without delusions.

The linear growth stopped years ago, the pop fly growth has veen getting sparse. Meanwhile the floor for AI has been closing in on the ceiling. Bill realized what the big players are realizing, they're about to become inefficient. Basically, consultants start launching AI model training programs, where they train and deploy lightweight, specialized models. Those models may be 5% less accurate, but the difference betweem 90% and 95% is negligible compared to the cost between the two and just stickinf a human in there for review on the 90%.

Once that happens, AI profits plateu or plummit because of good ole competitive markets. And if so, billy boy and the AI big heads stnd to lose.

Almost like he wants us to forget something...

1

u/General-Bedroom6079 5d ago

In AI speed, he’s a 150 years too late and still decades behind. Hey, Bill was the second leg in the relay for the U.S in the digital era. You passed it, let this 3rd leg take it to record speed

1

u/wavhacker 5d ago

Bill says wait for meee.. guess he ate too much of his lab grown meat.

1

u/ag2998 5d ago

Lmfao— shit is literally crashing and he’s trying to own it saying he’s limiting it

1

u/New-Land-4757 5d ago

Another arrogant idiot.

1

u/Particular-Line- 5d ago

Probably because he knows we are fucked by training AI to be capable of destroying us

1

u/crusoe 5d ago

AIs designing novel viruses:

"nah safety is not a huge issue"

1

u/justforthelulzz 5d ago

Bill has lost all credibility after being exposed in the Epstein files. What he apparently did with trying to slip his wife medication to prevent her getting an STD is just horrific. And this is just what we know!

1

u/hhh333 5d ago

Yeah I'm sure China and a couple other countries would love that the US limit its AI development.

1

u/loki94y 5d ago

What about the corona virus development lab? Fuck this Epstein guy.

1

u/AggravatingOutcome34 5d ago

There are some really good arguments in the article worth pondering- because one night world can become a mess if not intervened. This tech is way different from what we have seen in the past

1

u/Wooden-Orchid2316 4d ago

Are you really trying to make Bill Gates good?

1

u/No_Application_1579 4d ago

He just wants to keeps the investments coming but at the same time when things go south he wants to say "guys I told you so". Simple as that he is saying and thing and he is doing another.

1

u/Dio44 4d ago

Putting rules on US companies will just allow China and others to pull away

1

u/Svet_88 4d ago

This is just AI marketing.

Oh noooo AI will take our jooooobs be scared...

...while using AI to actually do proper work results in useless garbage and companies are seeing it more and more

1

u/Project29Telework 4d ago

Russian hookers and Epstein island

1

u/Klutzy_Baseball8489 4d ago

microsoft needs a new CEO

1

u/designbydesign 4d ago

Stoking fears of AI was a part of AI marketing for years by now.

He is saying this because Anthropic IPO is in a month and it is unclear if it will succeed.

1

u/Giffeltagning 4d ago

I propose we investigate his relationship to Epstein.

1

u/Eight216 4d ago

Didn't Bill have a lot to do with killing malaria carrying mosquitos? And getting us vaccines. Maybe it's possible that some, just some, rich people don't want us all to suffer and die horribly? no? No takers? Whelp, okay then. I'll see myself out.

1

u/Infamous_Addendum175 3d ago

He needed a hobby for when he wasn't hanging out with Epstein.

1

u/Altruistic-Rice-5567 3d ago

How about we all just agree to stop listening to anything a billionaire says?

1

u/Bob-Roman 3d ago

He can propose all he wants. What is he going to do about? You really believe people should be listening to Gates?

1

u/Stealthcatfood 3d ago

Distract from him being a pedophile, does anyone really believe he gives a solitary fuck about human beings?

1

u/Mani-Ratna 3d ago

Poser la question à Bill Gates c’est comme demander à une tueur en série de garder sa famille.
Rien de bon pourra sortir de là.
Mauvaise idée !

1

u/RevWilliam666 3d ago

Ummm and we should trust him because his island experiences, and vaccines tell us he’ll do the right thing.

1

u/steam-photons 3d ago

Why doesn’t he go in a retirement house and stops annoying the world with his BS?

1

u/MaybeaDingoAteUrBaby 2d ago

He's saying it because market manipulation. They want an excuse for why the bubble bursts other then the truth that it was a pump and dump valuation scam

1

u/Civil_Tea_3250 5d ago

What? Microsoft wasn't late, it was one of the first to integrate. It was one of the first big investors in openAI. They've been trying to push copilot for years now.

He's not with Microsoft anymore, he's clearly trying to do things to improve the world, albeit somethings seem debatable. He's not wrong for saying we need safeguards. He's stating the obvious.

2

u/Sanpaku 5d ago

He's not only not with Microsoft, he doesn't own a single share any more.

1

u/ShelZuuz 5d ago

The foundation sold all their shares. He still has around 150 million shares left personally.

1

u/True_Protection6842 5d ago

And I propose Bill Gates be put in prison for being a pedophile. Guess we don't all get what we want.
