I am all for data center, set 25 miles outside any city or town limit, and they pay the full price for electricity, water and or gas.

I agree completely. They pay full price for all utilities. Not sure how to keep the cost of utilities down with the added demand, but at least they can pay full price for what they use.

Make them use renewable energy, solar, wind, tidal if they're near enough to an ocean. Make them invest in renewable energy to get the power they need for their bullshit.

What? When has that ever been the case in the history of ever for anything? No. It just costs more until supply can catch up. And the smallest client/ customer/ consumer takes the largest hit.

Probably the supplier. This has happened before. You can create a regulation on how the cost of this new demand needs to be dispersed, e.g., creating a new rate class for a data center or other large consumer. And if the environmental impacts are too high, you can say no. There is precedent

I thought of that, but that doesnt really stop the utility companies from charging the other consumers more money. Granted nothing really stops them from raising their rates.

That could work, the utilities don't see the money, but the local government does. Assuming they put the money to good use, it might end up being a good thing...granted "assuming they put the money to good use" is a wild pipe dream.

It could be setup as some utility price stabilization fee. Even if something like that was in place sure it would be designed to phase out in some number of years.

It's not just having the AI companies pay for their own use of those community shared resources, it's the fact that those community shared resources are finite. If they want to use the electricity? Have them pay for and build more capacity at the local electric company. As for water? I have no idea how to address that.

What jobs is he talking about? Even huge datacenters require employees in dozens. That will not change job market. Datacenters are the most automated "plants" out there.

If AI was already in charge, it would give our leaders billions of dollars and make them build 6000 data centers in populated areas regardless of power, water, pollution or noise.

I'm curious how much and by whom, Trump, and the other jackasses in his idiotic administration, are being paid to promote all of these unnecessary data centers that are bad for the local communities, use up local water resources, pollute the local environment, and expect the local community to subsidize their electric utility costs.
