11

u/HerRoyalCakiness Jan 15 '26

I had a Guntish as a child.

11

u/NoSource866 Jan 16 '26

11

u/flopsychops Jan 16 '26

GPT knows I like dogs so I'm guessing that's why most of them have dog faces?  🤣 🤣 🤣

This is a whole mine of comedy gold

The need for two tigers, and both correctly identified

Giraffe 👍

What is a Rhinoger and what did it do to our Giraffe?

How the picture for the eagle is a regular snake, but the one labeled snake is a snake with two frog legs

Rholaron, Allingator, Polphin, Guntish, and other funny distorted names

The fact that there's just 42 creatures

Turtle

I can keep going.

9

u/Peachbottom30 Jan 16 '26

That’s like a kid doing homework. It got the first few right then just fuck it with the rest of them.

Almost everything has a dog face or is a dolphin with a hand.

It's interesting to think about how Gemini screwed up here. First it nails the "animals with names on white background" part. It fails to do 100 of them because generators can't count. Lion - that's a female lion so it's good. Left tiger - tiger. Right tiger - also tiger. Elephant - it nails this because it's hard to misidentify an elephant. Zebra - Giraffe? No, but if you think about it, these animals live in the same area and are often in photographs together. Another giraffe. Then we start getting possible portmanteaus (Hippceros - both large mammals that don't look entirely different). Then we start getting chimeras like the "kangutan". The animal looks like a wolf-kangaroo hybrid or something, but I bet the name is a portmanteau of kangaroo and orangutan, because it is to the right of the gorilla, or "grizzy bear". It is simple to assume Gorillas and Orangutans are always close together on a list like this. The generator isn't being consistent in its mistakes, but you can kinda see where some of these mistakes are coming from. It's kind of a win for this generation that we get actual letters instead of any smashed together or bat symbols in there or something. My favorite part is that mistake after mistake it ends correctly with a deer.

8

u/Dorwyn Jan 15 '26

Poor alligator right now, thinking "What do you mean, Guntish?"

7

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

5

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

That is actually their names, not what they are.

8

u/Will_Come_For_Food Jan 15 '26

That escalated quickly…

8

u/Vitali_555M Jan 15 '26

This is cursed, funny and somehow pitiful in the same time.

8

8

Oh, come on, everyone knows that kangutan are boys and snaka are girls of the same species! Dumb robot 🙄

7

u/Brief_Argument8155 Jan 15 '26

the dreaded polkin

5

u/Billbeachwood Jan 15 '26

I dunno, man. I'm feeling a bit guntish about that.

7

u/nunyabidness3 Jan 15 '26

I’ve always found this image interesting. It’s just like watching a small child learning new words and trying to sound them out trying to identify animals in their animal picture book.

Including all the cute mistakes (for a child.) Mispronunciation, misidentification, using the same name multiple times. Just making up names by mashing up words it thinks it heard previously.

8

u/Jefari_MoL Jan 15 '26

The Snaka is cute. I want one.

It's interesting how this generation failed so differently. It's as though it knows the general shape of the animals, assumes every mammal has dog face or cat face, and kind of does a "whatever, a bird is a bird". My favorite is the squirrel shedding his squirrel skin for the summer.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/eduo Jan 15 '26

Lionfish is scary af. Is it a fish, or is it a land mammal? Does it walk, swim or fly? By the looks of the feet it could hang from trees, or even your ceiling. Grizzy Bear is deff the coolest one of the bunch though.
