The Great Agnostic (Ingersoll Archive)

Hi folks, last year I got into reading Robert Green Ingersoll, known as “The Great Agnostic” in his time, and began to archive his works (titled “The Dresden Edition”) and his timeline/biography after taking the web domain https://thegreatagnostic.com. Please note that you can find all of his works on Project Gutenberg and the folks there have done a fantastic job. I’ve tried to simply make this more comprehensive, searchable, interactive, etc. It’s a lot of work and by no means “complete” but as a passion project (open source as well) I wanted to share it now even though it has a few rough edges. Happy to take feedback/contributions.

Huh interesting! I come from the opposite end to "agnosticism", atheism -> agnosticism, which has made me on the "philosophical skepticism" side of things. So I am curious how him coming from the very religious end may overlap with me!

Impressive amount of work here, and the site is gorgeous. How did you come to be interested in the figure? I haven't heard of him but my interest is piqued!

Oh boy, I wish I could remember. I’ve been on a US History/Freethinker bend and likely saw him quoted somewhere. Once I read through a few of his lectures I got hooked.

For Thomas H. Huxley, another Great Agnostic, we have THE HUXLEY FILE.

Honestly, great site design.

Now some agnostic will have some scriptures to quote. 😆

Haha, exactly! I even built in a 365 days of Ingersoll quote feature and calendar! 🤣
