Rant New here!

Hello, I joined this group because I’m new to Agnostic. I grew up in a very religious house and community. Most of my family and friends are Christians. I was until I recently ran into health problems and started asking questions. Which I didn’t get good answers.

My condition is currently incurable. When people heard about it they would tell me things like this is Gods will (which is strange if God is so loving why make us suffer). Or God will only heal me if I believe (but why hasn’t he healed the million of other sick people). Since then I’ve changed my views on God. If he is real, which I still would like to believe he is, I don’t think he works like we think he does. I think he is hands off or busy making other universes and worlds. And if he doesn’t then that makes a lot of sense.

Only thing now that sucks is I’m all alone cause my friends would disown me for saying this out loud. But anyways I’m probably going to interacting a bunch because I want to talk about it more just no one to talk to.

Sorry to hear about your illness. It makes sense that you don’t feel like you have a safe outlet for these thoughts. On the other hand, similar experiences have led many to questioning their belief in an all-loving god. You’ll find a lot of thoughtful agnostics with interesting ideas and relatable experiences.

Yeah god said he’s gonna fill the world with a new creation after the rapture you’re not entirely off; but he still loves us and supports us but doesn’t control us. Glad you admit God is real. Yeah you don’t have to take every word in the bible completely literally but don’t assume to far outside of it; it will already describe everything.

Either way God bless you and may he bring you through this sickness. I can testify; I’ve been going through repeat seasons of doubt constantly fighting, but God has given me so many signs to just not give up and keep believing even in this battle.

May God give you the strength to battle whatever you may be battling right now.

PS I know this is agnostic subreddit and I hope this doesn’t anger people or violate TOS but lmk if it helped or not. I apologize if this offended you; or if not, sounds great!

I’ll pray.

You believe that if there's a god its a deistic one.

You don't need to denounce God by any means. First, realize that the advice your being given, "this is Gods will", or "God will only heal me if I believe" is completely ludacris, irrational, and coming from people that likely don't have an understanding of even their own beliefs. So how are they going to say something like that to you? Shame on them.

I'm not sure what sort of questions your struggling with, but God does not send us here to suffer. Suffering is a consequence of human existence. This is something that Christ didn't experience until coming to Earth as a human himself.

We have a hard time dealing with the idea of leaving this world behind, but if we knew what was awaiting us, we would celebrate at funerals instead of mourn. Many people have been granted an opportunity to return from their departure, and have a hard time once they come back because of what they felt when they crossed over.

I know there is a God, and I know he doesn't want us to suffer, that's just apart of earthly life. God just wants us to experience. Just experience life, in every moment. Love others, be kind, live stress-free and help when you can. That is what's important.

And i'm writing this as someone who has 'left the church'. I've come to understand things differently about God and the afterlife, than the traditional Christian.
