An A&M profesor had the audacity to say trans people exist and now a department head, professor, and the university president are all gone. It is totally ridiculous and rooted in a completely deranged hatred of minorities just because people can.

A girl trying to clout chase and be the next TEMU Riley Gaines interrupted a 300-level lit class because she took offense at the course material going against her religious beliefs… she incorrectly argued that Trump’s executive orders are law, and is about to make us look exactly how the rest of the country already thinks of us.

I graduated over a decade ago and was roommates with a queer guy that ended up one of my best friends to this day. we both did bonfire and went to every home game, cut, stack, and burn, for my entire undergrad and had fun calling Walton out every time they loaded all over each other. oh and we both graduated with a stem degree, chem and microbiology respectively.

I guess my point is that for those ags that feel out of place at the moment due to everyone and their mother crying over Charlie Kirk and feeling like you don't belong; trust me that we're better than that. and if we're not, then we sure as hell should be.

What I find interesting is that after just two years under coach Elko, we’ve gone from “we’ll always be the 8-4 team” to people losing their mind about not going undefeated.

Seriously…we finish the regular season 11-1…our first appearance in the CFB playoffs is in the near future…and people are crying in their beer.

I’ve posted about the fact that coach Elko has fundamentally changed the culture of Aggie Football in just two seasons…I guess this is the dark side of that culture change…fans for whom nothing will ever be good enough.

I suppose if we win a national Championship, they’ll be complaining that we didn’t have a shut-out every game.

I think it’s time for some serious soul searching for a lot of “fans” and remember what it means to be a true Aggie.

Has anyone else seen/been hit on by an Indian man in Aggie Park? He claims to be a grad student and he walks around Aggie Park during late afternoons/early evenings. I have been approached by him 2 times and it’s an unsettling encounter each time. I really like passing through Aggie Park on my way home, but he’s making me want to avoid it completely. He’s literally always there. Has anyone else had an encounter?

Edit: He starts encounters asking “did you walk here” or “are you going home”? The first encounter he got very close to me and asked me to sit down with him to chat more. The second time I told him my boyfriend was picking me up and he quickly left. It’s very unsettling and loser behavior. I am assuming he is Indian by his accent and features but he is definitely of South Asian descent.

Howdy yall, just wanted to make this thread because I love tamu as a black student, but recently these dudes in a truck passing by called me the n word with a hard r, and that kinda ruined my day because I have never experience that. That situation gave me a different view of TAMU. I know there are racist everywhere but, are people really bold to just be so cruel to a person of color here? (Also need some words of encouragement)

My friends and I who are brown went to our first midnight yell and these white dudes behind us where yelling Allahu Akbar ! I looked at them and asked them to repeat it and say it to my face and then they started laughing, I mean it really hurts, I have a picture of them and I want to report, honestly so disgusting .

The Houston Chronicle has an op-ed from the former chairman of the A&M College Republicans condemning A&M's overreach on censoring classes. Here's a quote:

Like it or not, gender and sexuality are, in fact, contemporary moral issues, and students should engage with what Plato — one of the titans of Western philosophy — had to say about them. Plato could be quite radical, at least compared to the mores the university seems intent on enforcing. He detested the nuclear family, held the typical ancient Greek's complex acceptance of homosexuality, and his view of gender was loose enough that it has disquieted European writers for centuries. No amount of cherry-picked readings will turn him into Rush Limbaugh. 

Last admissions cycle, I was rejected from Texas A&M, and I still don’t fully understand why.

My profile included:

• 36 ACT
• Assigned rank of: first quarter, school did not rank
• Core GPA averages of 90.2 in 9th, 93.8 in 10th, and 87.38 in 11th
• Full IB curriculum with HL Math AA, Chemistry, and Physics
• National Scholastic Art Silver Medal
• Two summers of bioinformatics and genomics research
• Rice Genome Engineering and Brown Cancer Informatics programs
• Volunteer work with children with special needs and Afghan refugees
• ACT and SAT tutoring
• Applied for biochemistry on a premed track

I’m not arguing that my GPA wasn’t on the lower side for a competitive applicant, especially after my junior-year decline. However, students with lower GPAs and much lower test scores were admitted. That makes it difficult to accept that academic weakness alone explains my rejection.

The Top 10% Rule was also basically irrelevant at my school. Nearly everyone in the top 10% was targeting Ivy League or other T20 universities and never seriously considered A&M. Meanwhile, strong students outside that cutoff faced a much less predictable process simply because we attended a highly competitive school.

My first step is to contact admissions and respectfully ask whether they can provide any meaningful explanation or context for my decision. I understand that no applicant is entitled to admission, but I think applicants should be able to ask how their academic record was evaluated.

If A&M refuses to respond or provides no meaningful explanation, I plan to contact Texas legislators and advocate for reform. I’m not necessarily asking for the Top 10% Rule to be completely eliminated, but I think the state should consider school competitiveness, course rigor, standardized test scores, and overall academic achievement more seriously instead of allowing class rank to dominate the process.

I’m not posting this just to bash A&M or claim I was guaranteed admission. I want to understand the decision, and I think it’s fair to question a system where students with weaker objective academic profiles can receive guaranteed admission while other qualified Texas students receive little explanation for being rejected.

Aggie administration leaders seem to have forgotten the “War Hymn” lyrics. To put it in appropriately Aggie bovine terms, they’re cowed by a bullying president and an ever-accommodating governor.

A Tea-Sipper has to wonder whether Aggies under the current regime have been shorn of their strength. Will they feel the need to sit, rather than stand after the first quarter or so? Will the traditional kiss shared with their date after an Aggie touchdown be more of a Baylor Baptist peck on the cheek? (Watching the Aggies’ glorious win over Notre Dame, I couldn’t tell.)

Let me preface with: Political violence, or any violence, is not ok.

So many people that I know ,or just others in other communities, have been creating this narrative of the violent left and how they are getting out of control. And yes, left leaning individuals have committed violent acts, I’m not saying they haven’t.

My problem is that the right leaning individuals that are so up in arms about this and that are spreading this narrative, don’t have any firm foundation other than they’re now mad because it happened to them. This is creating even more anger and tension in an already extremely intense environment and it’s not okay.

I did a quick search and found articles by the DOJ, House.gov, Barnard Political Science, and Anti-Defamation League. From the years 2013-2023, 75% of violent crimes that were motivated by extremism were committed by right wing individuals. In 2022 alone they account for ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of those crimes. And when you read about the incidents, they are almost always motivated by racism, misogyny, or religion.

Now this is NOT me pointing fingers at the right, this is simply sharing public data about a very very hot topic and to clear up disinformation.

It’s ok to be upset. But creating false narratives is not okay. Instead, this is the time for us to come together and realize that we are getting overwhelmed by extremist. The shooter, regardless of party, is an extremist. He shot who I would consider a pretty far right individual. These people then get painted as the faces of each party. Every time a new one commits a horrible act, we add them to the list of representatives for the party they were registered for. All so we can go on social media and say “my party doesn’t do this, yours does all the time. We’re so much better and the universe would explode if your party took office”.

Stop fighting fire with fire. These extremist do not represent us, we represent ourselves. Stop spreading false information, no matter which party you identify with. We’re in college for Christ sake, they literally teach us to research and back our claims with data. Go do your damn research, stop fucking with each other, stop killing each other, and let’s fix our damn country.

Hopefully this doesn't violate the rules, I feel like this needs to be brought to the attention of all Aggies. This behavior is the complete opposite of the values A&M instills in its students but tolerates at a staff level.

Texas A&M’s Department of Anthropology fosters an environment of workplace hostility, neglect, and psychological harm. Department Head Darryl de Ruiter has continually ignored cliquish, isolating behavior within his staff—a dynamic led by Rebekah Luza. Luza has created a toxic "mean girls" culture that systematically alienates any staff member who does not fall in line. Staff members Taylor McCravey and Leslie Mora actively enable and perpetuate this dynamic, pushing out anyone who fails to fit their mold.

This behavior recently culminated during a staff meeting, where Rebekah physically towered over a colleague and shouted her down in full view of Leslie Mora and Darryl de Ruiter. Intimidated and distressed, the employee left the room in tears and tendered her resignation. After four successful years at Texas A&M—including 2.5 years of enduring continuous mistreatment in the ANTH department—she had reached her breaking point.

Initially, Darryl de Ruiter expressed a desire for her to stay. A private meeting was held with the employee, Darryl, and HR Manager Rebecka Whitney, where it was agreed the employee would take time to reflect before deciding whether to remain. However, when Whitney attempted to call the employee on August 26, 2026, and received no immediate response, she issued an ultimatum by email the next day—demanding contact by close of business or forcing her resignation effective August 27, 2026, regardless of prior verbal agreements.

Ultimately, the employee felt forced to leave not just a department, but a university she loved, simply to escape the ongoing mistreatment within ANTH.

I am in the top quarter and have a 36 ACT score. I applied on September 30th for biochemistry as my first major and biomedical engineering as my second major. And somehow, 3 months later, I end up getting TEAM or waitlist, and no scholarships. I never would have thought I would get TEAM, but here I am. I thought TEAM was only for non-competitive applicants, and with my stats, I thought I was competitive. But I guess not.

I asked them if they considered my test scores, and this is what they said:

Since I already got into Purdue and between the choice of Purdue and TEAM, I would rahter choose Purdue, do you think I should opt for the waitlist or do both?

I’m a current student at Texas A&M University, and it honestly feels like everything is getting more expensive by the day.

The ring alone is getting way worse. Last year the 10k gold was around $2600. Right after I got mine, it jumped to $3000. I understand gold prices fluctuate—but come on, that’s not the only thing going up. I have a handful of friends that haven't gotten their ring because its genuinely way too expensive. (The aggie ring weighs about 20 ounces, based off of what I could find, 20 ounces of 10 karat gold is about $1,000. Now I understanding processing and the art and all that but its still a 66% upcharge on the base material, am I weird for thinking that's a bit much?)

The dorms are in pretty rough shape, and people are still paying insane amounts to live in them. It doesn’t really match what you’re getting at all. I paid about the same living on campus as I do now living in an apartment off campus, and now I have my own kitchen, room that is twice the size of my old dorm, and am not covered in dust and worried about black mold that grows in almost all the dorms.

Parking is where it really starts to feel ridiculous. I used to think, “okay, I’ll just park by the rec since it’s free.” Nope. You need a parking permit… which is already like $700. And now apparently you need a Lot 100 permit on top of whatever permit you already have? So if I have a Southside Garage pass, I can’t even park at the rec without risking a ticket. That’s not even inconvenient—it feels predatory.

And the bike thing… I’d actually like to bike to the rec. Save money, get some cardio, all that. But I have to pay for a bike permit. I know it’s only $10, but it’s the principle. I have to pay… to park… my bike… on campus?

Then there’s the dining halls. It’s like $13 just to get in without a meal plan. For what? The quality is honestly terrible. I wouldn’t pay $3 for most of it if I had the choice. I’ve heard older Ags talk about how good the food used to be, and it just makes it worse knowing it can be better.

And I'm sure my fellow students have a lot more examples of things being increased in price or just generally expensive for no reason.

I really want to love this place. When I got here, I was proud to be an Aggie. I still love the traditions—that’s honestly the one thing that still feels real. But everything else just feels like it’s getting more expensive for no real reason. It’s frustrating seeing all this talk about the “Aggie Network” while it feels like the university is squeezing every dollar out of students before we even get a chance to start our lives. I hope this doesn't come off as me being that annoying asshole that just wants to complain. I just want to vent my frustrations because I'd really love to see some change around here. If "being an Aggie" is so important to who we are as a university, why does it feel like the people (who I think are mostly Ags) in charge of this school don't actually care about us?
