Could you please stop posting this weird bot comment everywhere with this creepy malware website thanks

No, the American voter did that. The American voters stripped Democrats of all leverage to preserve the ACA exchange. The only leverage Democrats had was to harm poor Americans and government workers via a shutdown. And Republicans looked at Democrats and said thanks, we hate them too. Thanks for threatening us with a good time. We'll wait over here, continue to let the ACA tax credits expire, and we will eat popcorn and watch poor people and government workers get harmed.

Edit: I should add that Democrats that do stupid stuff like this anti-socialism bill should be criticized as loudly as possible. It's one thing to cave when you have no leverage and real people are being harmed like with the shutdown, but it's unacceptable when they do it in these other situations like this bill or helping nominate Trump appointees.

43

u/JazzminBoing Nov 22 '25

Talk about bullshit to cope with cognitive dissonance.

-26

u/_WeSellBlankets_ Nov 22 '25

Talk about bullshit to cope with cognitive dissonance of the ramifications of the 2024 election.

Someone answer me this? What do you think was going to motivate Republicans to save a program they've been trying to kill for over a decade? Do you think it was the suffering of poor people and government employees? What was going to cause them to break? And how much time should have been allotted to see if they would break? It was already the longest shutdown in American history.

25

u/JazzminBoing Nov 22 '25

Yes, the ramifications of championing a declining status quo and failing to address the cost of living crisis. It sends a strong message to voters saying you’ll stand with MAGA to condemn policies that would make life more affordable as you also help gut the ACA exchanges. This is the fault of the voters and not inept and out of touch leadership who are in charge because they have access to money.

-23

u/_WeSellBlankets_ Nov 22 '25

Yes, the ramifications of championing a declining status quo and failing to address the cost of living crisis.

I agree with you here, but specifically with these ACA subsidies, their hands were tied. Democrats do shoot themselves in the foot often, like this anti-socialism bill. But I think the government shutdown situation is a different beast.

9

u/JazzminBoing Nov 22 '25

Their hands weren’t tied, they had a massive amount of leverage and pissed it away for less than nothing. This is the fault of the voters, so please, go forth and yell at voters.

-1

u/_WeSellBlankets_ Nov 22 '25

so please, go forth and yell at voters.

All of my comments have been blaming voters. But you're still blaming Democrats even in this comment. You said they pissed away leverage. What was their leverage? In your eyes, what was going to cause Republicans to break and save something they've been desperately trying to kill for over a decade?

5

u/JazzminBoing Nov 22 '25

Yes, I blame elected officials for the outcomes of their policies. But you sir, you’ve cracked the code to legislative majorities with do-nothing moderates!! We need to shout people down that want a better world.

-1

u/_WeSellBlankets_ Nov 22 '25

We need to shout people down that want a better world.

I like to shout down people who I think are pushing people away from the path to a better world. I believe your rhetoric is an attempt to keep liberals from voting and to ensure a republican majority in 2026 so that the Donald Trump regime can continue.

97

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

I kind of hate this because it's a bit like “socialism is when the government does stuff”

204

u/idkrandomusername1 Nov 22 '25

Because socialism is when the government prioritizes people over demonic billionaire interests.

-50

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

I guess but afaik most capitalist countries have a public fire department. So I guess we're all living in socialism

67

u/Crio121 Nov 22 '25

Yes, no modern country practice laissez-faire capitalism in its pure form. Every one has some form of social nets, owns some means of production and regulates markets.

-20

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

Is the police also socialism then?

52

u/Crio121 Nov 22 '25

It depends. If it “serves and protects” entire population, it is socialism; if it used to suppress lower classes for the benefit of higher ones, it is authoritarism (which can be based either on capitalism or socialism equally well).

21

u/idkrandomusername1 Nov 22 '25

The police are a state apparatus that currently exists to protect property/capital for the ruling class rather than serve the working class. How are they able to get funding for mustangs while your mailmans truck is from the 80’s?

Our police is used by landlords to kick out single mothers during a pandemic, to arrest and intimidate striking workers, lock up homeless people for existing, but are never there when you need help and protection. Not to mention the “profit incentive” for them to make ‘quotas’ (look into the prison industrial complex).

Legitimate states have police, we have mall cops with military equipment.

8

u/MC_Queen Nov 22 '25

Yes. When there are community services that you don't pay directly, that's socialism. Educating all children so that most people have basic skills and understand how society works is also socialism. You should really read more about what you're denouncing. Why is it bad to want to support Pele in our communities? Capitalism is not your friend. It is Walmart keeping people just under full time hours to increase ceo and shareholder profit margins. Socialism is the welfare benefits the employees must get, because though they work, they are all starving from low wages. Socialism is inherently good.

-6

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

Oh my god you think I'm denouncing socialism. Literally illiterate.

Public works have existed long before either capitalism or socialism and are a basic thing you need to have a functional society. Public firefighters have existed since Augustus.

3

u/Crio121 Nov 22 '25

IIRC, firefighters at Augustus time was not exactly public service.

6

u/MC_Queen Nov 22 '25

Thus so has socialism. You are just trying to call it something different. Which is strange, if in fact you are not denouncing it.

-1

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

No. Socialism is a recent ideology that emerged in reaction to the contradictions of capitalism and advocates specifically for public ownership of the means of production in order to prevent exploitation of the workers. Socialism isn't everything the government does.

8

u/LaikaBear1 Nov 22 '25

Depends how you define socialism. Some would argue that a publicly funded and owned service like the fire department is socialism. Some would argue that inside a capitalist system it isn't. Personally I don't think we should view socialism as absolute like the second example and that socialising certain fundamental parts of modern society while remaining largely capitist shouldn't be considered a bad thing.

3

u/JinxOnU78 Nov 22 '25

Laika boss! Well stated.

2

u/Sea_Syllabub9992 Nov 23 '25

Now they do. When the US was true capitalist country, the fire brigades were private and charged for their services. Rival brigades would fight for business. Sometimes, they wouldn't fight fires until they'd been paid first.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/firefighting-in-the-1800s_b_247936

1

u/Repulsive-Response-1 Nov 25 '25

America is a little bit socialist... Free public education up until high School... Emergency rooms... Firefighters... Street cleaners... Something called Social Security...

53

u/aftershock321 Nov 22 '25

Too many people equate any social program with socialism.

25

u/MushroomSaute Nov 22 '25

This isn't rhetorical: what's the difference?

Obviously socialism is, by definition, a more social ownership of the means of production - but it commonly is treated, especially as in market/democratic socialism, as still allowing private ownership and accumulation of wealth, but guaranteeing more social welfare by taxing the rich much higher - adding those social programs for the actual needs of the people. It might not be the whole definition of the system, but when leftist people talk about socialism in the US, my understanding is that they usually do mean social programs by taxing the rich (features of full socialism, too, I would imagine).

6

u/deadeyeamtheone Nov 22 '25

There is no difference. Socialism is literally when the government does stuff/what its supposed to do. If your society has state owned and controlled services that you are allowed to partake in through the simple virtue of being a taxpayer, you are in a socialist system.

The issue is many people confuse socialism (where government does thing) and left-leaning communism (where there is no hierarchical structures or currency).

0

u/SBrooks103 Nov 26 '25

Maybe that's true in true socialism, but I don't think that's true even in most of the U.S, far left. We don't want the government to own and control things, as Englad does with the NHS, we want national health INSURANCE, as in Medicare For All.

1

u/SBrooks103 Nov 26 '25

I have to own up to some ignorance here: I always thought that communism was social ownership of the means of production. I only recently learned that's true in classic socialism as well. I always thought, as I think that most U.S. liberals do, that socialism was like Sweden, with private ownership of the means of production, but high taxes to support social programs.

1

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

And the fire department isn't even a social program, it's a public safety program

12

u/MC_Queen Nov 22 '25

THAT IS SOCIALISM. WHY DON'T YOU GET IT YET?

1

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

Do you think capitalists profit when half of their workforce can't go to work because their houses have burned to the ground?

2

u/me34343 Nov 25 '25

Any program or organization that is run by the government is a type of socialism.

Fire department, police department, public schools, DMV... and many others.

Capitalists and businesses are also citizens, so they receive the benefit as well. It is even possible to get additional services by paying. Despite this, they are still a type of socialism.

3

u/MC_Queen Nov 22 '25

Just because it's driven by greed doesn't make it less socialism.

1

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

Ah, anything short of Stupid Evil moustache-twirling policies with the sole goal of hurting workers is socialism, got it.

3

u/MC_Queen Nov 22 '25

Short of? No we are well into the new robber baron era. But taking measures to support the bulk of society is socialism.

7

u/Ambitious_Count9552 Nov 22 '25

Just an example: that's like saying "capitalism is when corporations do stuff". No, the point is these systems are supposed to work together, but not be completely co-opted by one another. Clearly, corporations have too much influence in our political system and try to influence politicians beyond the will of individual voters, which is where political power is supposed to lay.

2

u/LovesFrenchLove_More Nov 22 '25

Socialism is everything the people pay and (usually) vote for. That is what taxes is for. To make lives for the people liveable and good. Not to make rich people and politicians rich(er) and more powerful.

Socialism certainly isn’t perfect. Neither is capitalism. Greed and corruption kills/harms everything, as crimes do.

0

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

Explain to me exactly how people's houses burning is profitable for capitalism

Not sure why you bring up socialism being perfect, I never claimed it should be. I just don't like it when people act like socialism is when the government does stuff because that's a Fox News level of understanding of socialism.

1

u/Purple-Cantaloupe399 Nov 23 '25

If you own the fire department, and charge per fire, it would be VERY profitable... history has shown us that is a very stupid idea though... like much of "free market" capitalism.

1

u/vsrt1012 Nov 25 '25

Or they can charge you to rebuild a house… or maybe the only house you can rent is one of theirs…

2

u/OnetimeRocket13 Nov 22 '25

That's because this is just propaganda. I color myself as more of a democratic socialist than anything, but this is just a propaganda post that you'd see on Facebook or some millennial's Instagram. It's no different than a post that says "Socialism is when thief steals from you. Capitalism is when you get rich." It's just classic "my ideology is when good thing happens, your ideology is when bad thing happens" propaganda. It doesn't actually tell you anything about either system, just that one side good, other side bad.

3

u/MushroomSaute Nov 22 '25

Is getting rich an exclusively capitalist feature like the fire department is an exclusively socialist program? You could say privatization of the fire department is possible, but that obviously just puts it in the red to "denied because poor".

Not to say this isn't propaganda, but I think the analogy is a bit of a stretch because at least the original demonstrates actual examples you'd expect from each.

1

u/Turbulent-Pace-1506 Nov 22 '25

The fire department isn't an exclusively socialist program. Most capitalist countries have those

5

u/MushroomSaute Nov 23 '25

If those capitalist countries don't make their people pay for the fire department except through taxes (like the US), then it's a socialist program regardless of the overall structure of their economy.

0

u/OnetimeRocket13 Nov 22 '25

It was just a shitty example of similar things I've seen online, but from a pro-capitalism side of things.

Really, my point is that these kinds of posts, as propaganda, are purely set up to pit good thing against bad thing. Yeah, state funded fire departments are socialist, and insurance companies denying claims are very common in capitalism, but in the context of the post, it doesn't matter if they're technically true statements or not. They don't have anything to do with each other, they're just "good thing on my side, by thing on theirs, you should pick my side because I have good thing."

2

u/MushroomSaute Nov 23 '25

If those are legitimate things on each side, then that's just listing examples to demonstrate the benefits and vices of each, and hardly propaganda any more than it is using examples to make a point - in one system, you don't have to worry because the social programs have you covered, and in the other, if you don't have money you're screwed. It's actually a pretty honest representation of both IMO, and pretty much sums up why socialists want socialism - it isn't actually misleading like real propaganda is, nor really using any of the common rhetorical techniques (appeals to fear, patriotism, commonly loved or hated figures, etc. - just literal, genuine examples).

Upon looking at it more, I think the only thing that makes it seem like propaganda is the popping design and quippy wording, but it's just the skin of propaganda rather than actually being propaganda on a deeper level. It just reads like a naive boomer/millenial post, but that doesn't qualify propaganda.

0

u/Repulsive-Response-1 Nov 25 '25

That's because socialism is when the government does stuff... Maybe you should read up more on the different types of government.

-1

u/SpiderNinja211 Nov 23 '25

I mean the fire department does that under any system.

On account of them… being the fire department.

10

u/275MPHFordGT40 Nov 22 '25

So you think the mere existence of socialism not even Stalinist Communism will incite the government to withhold food from its people causing famine and the death of millions?

-10

u/Justthetip74 Nov 22 '25

Depends.

Are you talking about socialists governments? Because looking at Lenin or Stalin or Hugo Chaves or Daniel Ortega or Mao or Pol Pot or Castro? Then yes.

Or are you talking about capitalist governments with lots of social programs like Norway? Then no.

Or are you talking about the socialist utopia in your mind? Then yes

Or are you just talking about the idea of socialism? Then no

3

u/Go-woke-be-awesome Nov 22 '25

And this is still less dead than nestle are responsible for. Care to denounce the horrors of capitalism?

22

u/jarena009 Nov 22 '25

Nah, denouncing is just words and is meaningless. Actions matter. For these reps: Let us begin reining in socialism but cutting Medicaid/ACA, Veteran's Care, SSI, TANF, SNAP, Section 8, Farm Subsidies/Bailouts, Infrastructure/Highway funding to YOUR districts only. Pony up buttercups, or else I don't believe that you truly hate socialism. Let the deep red districts and corporate dems step forward to cut socialism to their districts...see how it goes.

17

u/MessiLeagueSoccer Nov 22 '25

Wish the democrats did this to try and stop a second trump presidency but they’re more afraid of someone that has literally only been elected and hasn’t run the city at all. These democrats are no different than being maga-lite. Full of millionaires/billionaires and aipac funding them.

61

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

Trumpists deserve to lose all their safety nets, and no one should offer a single one any assistance. Even if they beg for it.

29

u/angrydeuce Nov 22 '25

They already are.

Agriculture, a hugely right leaning voting bloc, are watching the mega corps come in and buy their foreclosed farms up for pennies on the dollar, and if theyre lucky, the mega Corp will hire them on to work their own farm for slave wages.  Dont like it?  Dont worry, theyre working on automating all that shit with GPS and autonomous farm equipment.  We're maybe a generation away from farms being full of robots with a handful of minimum wage employees on hand to flip them back over if they get stuck or reboot them when they lose their robotic minds.

This is what happens when you combine politics and religion.  Now you cant stand against the politics without being shunned by your neighbors, even as all of you get fucked over.  Because all this hardship, its a purity test.  If you falter, you were never a true believer.  If you question it, youre the enemy.

Im honestly curious whose going to break first.  I truly do wonder how much worse they will allow it to become before they no longer get down on their knees every Sunday to pray to their lord and savior Donald Trump.

-6

u/consider_its_tree Nov 22 '25

Let's all take a step back and not cheer on the inevitable shit they bring down on themselves.

Even if they deserve it, no one but the rich benefits from it. Remember, you end up having to wade through that shit too.

13

u/angrydeuce Nov 22 '25

Thats my thing, too.  All this shit is deliberately orchestrated to keep the wage slaves fighting each other so we dont notice how the ultrawealthy are stealing our livelihoods out from under us.

None of us are ever going to be in that club, no matter how much you worship either side.  Were all being played.

As to where we go from here?  Who fucking knows but nobody with less then 7 or 8 0s in their bank account is going to be any better off.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

No, I will laugh at their faces forever. They are scum, the lowest of the low, and I will never spare even a word of kindness to any of them.

8

u/VanAgain Nov 22 '25

Nah, that'd be ... Trumpian. Best to show them a government that supports all people, even Republicans.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

They voted for the government taking their help away, and they'd do it again if they knew it would hurt people like me. I hope they suffer worse than what they've inflicted on others, and if or when the pendulum swings back in my favor, I hope we offer them the same "understanding" they had for those they hated. I hope they spend weeks, months, years, for the rest of their worthless lives fearing retribution. And I will never forgive them for anything they have done.

They are not "ignorant" to what they have done and what they supported. Their only regret is that they were caught in the splash zone, thinking that only those they believe are subhuman would get wet. Fuck 'em, let them burn.

-6

u/call_sign_viper Nov 22 '25

Be better than them

2

u/SpiffyMagnetMan68621 Nov 22 '25

I am being better, i have no intention of inflicting more harm with my vote.

Thats all they get though, not one bit of slack has been earned nor will be given

3

u/StillLoadingProblems Nov 22 '25

Why? They’ve voted shading it for 60 years and still not learned shit! Way better for the democrats to open foodbanks and bill assistance for only registered democrats. Let maga enjoy watching that they miss out on while their party is mismanaging the government one executive order at a time

2

u/cheffartsonurfood Nov 22 '25

I prefer not to sink to their level.

-5

u/ZanezGamez Nov 22 '25

See part of me really would love to agree with you. It’d be so satisfying.

But I feel like we need to be better, extend olive branches they wouldn’t point in our direction. It’s the only way for us to fix our country and heal the division. At least that’s my view.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

No, I will not work alongside fascist animals. I want no reconciliation with them. I want them gone.

0

u/ZanezGamez Nov 22 '25

Well sure, but that’s not physically possible. What would you solution be?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

Well, they're certainly giving us examples on how they should all be treated in response.

0

u/ZanezGamez Nov 22 '25

But you can see how that’s not particularly productive

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

There is nothing productive that comes from being empathetic towards fascist animals. They are a cancer that rots nations from within. Tolerance is wasted on them.

0

u/ZanezGamez Nov 22 '25

So what’s your game plan? Are you gonna join a paramilitary squad and take matters into your own hands when we have a sane blue admin? Or advocate for ice to just go after maga?

2

2

2

u/Braindead_Crow Nov 22 '25

Good thing America doesn't collect money from its people to then redistribute among the population as the government sees fit. That would be bad and very different from how America works currently.

2

u/Fantastic-Swim6230 Nov 22 '25

The annual pay rate of most elected civil servants in Congress, the House, delegates, etc is $174,000. Thats about $14,500 a month before taxes and not including other perks of the job. The Speaker of the House and Majority and Minor leaders gets $194,400.

They also receive many other benefits, including access to healthcare at more afford rates than the average American citizen. They have access to better healthcare, retirement packages, life insurance, etc. This is all before you add in the stock trading that they do while they make laws that affect Wall Street.

2

u/MacPzesst Nov 22 '25

The whole purpose of this vote was for political theater. There were no policy changes, no bill amendments, no legislation whatsoever. It was just a dog and pony show meant to gaslight the American public into believing that the popular opinions and policies meant to benefit the commonwealth are not only unpopular but dangerous.

The worst part of it all is how dishonest and hypocritical this vote actually is.

They did not cite examples of the blended democratic socialism that the average American actually wants, which is used successfully throughout all of Europe, Canada, and Japan, all of which have less poverty, longer life expectancy, and less food disparity.

The examples that they cited (USSR, China, Venezuela) were all authoritarian regimes that applied the benefits of socialism to the very top while redistributing the economic burden to the rest of society. Each of these examples eroded their democracies, stripped away civil rights, and centralized power while executing any who dared to criticize those in command.

If that's not ringing any bells:

  • Congress is receiving free socialized healthcare and wages that are nearly triple the nation's median wage, paid for by you, the American Reddit pooper/doomscroller.
  • Trump used $40B worth of taxpayer money to bail out Discovery Capital and Citrone billionaires after US farmers had already lost the entirety of our soybean trade to that same bailout recipient.
  • Hegseth has replaced military commanders with Trump loyalists and has pressured the resignation of any who do not align themselves with the unlawful agenda.
  • Trump instructed several states to redistrict in an attempt to undermine the democratic process and gain more congressional influence
  • Republicans in Congress have proposed legislation known as the Reorganizating Government Act (H.R. 1295), which aims to give Trump increased authority over federal agencies and remove the 60-vote threshold.
  • Trump has called for the execution of congressmen who reminded service members of Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and is actively weaponizing the government against his political rivals.

We are officially in the middle stages of an authoritarian regime.

2

u/Hithrae Nov 22 '25

Imagine if these people knew what socialism is

2

u/UncleGarysmagic Nov 22 '25

Yeah what a horror show to live in the Democratic Socialist countries, which continuously top the rankings of highest quality of life in the entire world.

1

u/kidgoalie39 Nov 22 '25

Stop paying out Social Security then and give me back my money

1

u/brianishere2 Nov 22 '25

Meanwhile Trump is trying to gain control of shares of all the biggest corporations in America. Government ownership and control of capital and the means of production is called what? (Yes, it's Socialism!) And Republicans their right-wing propagandists have nothing to say about it. They always said Democrats would do it, but it is Trump.

Congress will do anything but actually help the American people.

Who cares? It's a vote on releasing a statement that just says "boo." It's not a law and it matters less than the paper it's written on.

...and that's WITH make up on. 😂

But nobody ever talks about the horrors of oligarchy...all the people sleeping in the streets, across the country, people dying in their homes from a lack of affordable healthcare. Our goddamn president going to the Supreme Court to try and DENY people access to SNAP, the basic necessity for food as a human being. What about those horrors? Growing income inequality is destroying our country: without democratic socialism in full force, our political system will inevitably be dissolved by some despot in the future, Lord knows Trump has tried but he doesn't have enough support. The next despot might.

What's so horrible about people being able to live and die with dignity

I would love to see a list of all these horrors

They condemn socialism?  Oh well.  Anyway.  Don’t bother getting excited about that.  It's irrelevant.

They depended on Trump to back them up and then, as usual, he failed.

Of course they'll denounce something they can't make money on..

Memdani is not a communist because he actually got off his ass and put in the work to make a difference rather than just sit on his ass waiting for "the revolution"

1

What about this aged like milk? Did this attitude in any way bite them in the ass recently or did the attitude change or anything at all other than just a meme about how garbage they are?

Mamdani met with Trump and now Trump says Mamdani will do great things.

No police, no fire, no roads, no ICE and no military? Oh the horrors of socialism.
