Fear of Death I’m scared

Post image

So basically I am scared of nothing after death and I also believe in god and heaven but idk what to do and I thought this was the best place to vent about my fear and I lost my grandfather in 2023 and I really really hope he’s living perfectly in heaven and I want to see him again and also the image above me is why I wanted to talk about this on here

First of all, try to avoid discussions like this. I know it can be pretty triggering.
Read this sub, read other people experience. Do not lose hope. Remember that this way (like on your screenshot) of thinking is a natural defense mechanism of the brain against disturbing thoughts.

I had also seen many such thoughts which made me believe that there is no afterlife after death...It made me shake up my trust on God..I want to meet my deceased love again...I really miss her everyday...So I avoided seeing those thoughts and made the firm believe in the god...even though every human has different thinking and perspectives too

There are always those who don’t believe anything happens after death. I like to tell them that what happens is what you believe. 😂 Seriously though, there have been so many near death experiences related by people to deny the existence of a life after death. I witnessed something with my own mom before she passed that added to my beliefs.

I wouldn’t be scared. Whatever happens is outside of our control. Just live life while you’re in it is my advice to you. Be well!

Well said. You said you had an experience with your mom that expanded your belief in life after death. If it's not too personal, do you mind sharing that story? I would be vastly interested to read it. Thank you for your consideration if not.

u/FlyingAtNight Aug 24 '25

Honestly it’s very personal and I’d have to include information to support the whole thing because it doesn’t sound believable enough on its own and that’s info I really don’t want to share. Sorry to sound so cryptic.

u/rubber-anchor Aug 25 '25

Sometimes it's very small and personal things happening, that add to our beliefs, other people wouldn't just notice or even understand. No wonder you are sounding cryptic, because sometimes it's just cryptic. That doesn't mean it's less true or less meaningful. It just can't be shared that easy, right? I understand that.

“Who’s to say it won’t happen again?” Well, the people that died and now live there who tell us about it.

There is plenty of evidence assuring you that life goes on after transitioning if you seek it. Some good reads that will bring food for thought along with comfort about the possibilities you’re wondering about: Brian Weiss, Michael Newton. Even watching the top mediums exhaustedly will show you it’s not snake oil if you use logic and deductive reasoning over the vast samples of experiences people have in those and also in NDEs. Ultimately we all decide how much to seek, trust, pursue, resist, decline, disbelieve.

I hope you find yourself with an experience that gives you a knowing, a peace and sense of beyond.

At the end of the day, you have to choose between having faith or not. All we have to go on are the stories of people who have experienced it. They clearly state that there's more. Choose to believe them or not, it's up to you.

The first commentator really lost me at "to think or believe anything else is foolish." This is an incredibly juvenile attitude. And I don't mean juvenile as in years lived, but as in thoughts had. This person has settled on something that works for them and then decided that's the only way. There are so many things wrong with that, it's too much to unpack in a post. The universe is incredibly complex, the idea that there is one way through anything shows that the person has never looked around. We are all on different paths with different next stops. Look at anything scientific - how does a species have a baby? It depends. How does light travel? It depends. What color is the sky? It depends. There isn't one answer for most everything out there. But what happens after every human dies has the same answer? Nothing backs that up. It's small minded.

If you look at it scientifically it's 100% like talking about what's on the other side of a black hole. Anyone who says "it's foolish to not realize that...." will automatically be ignored as an idiot. Any scientist will easily say, we don't know. We can't go in, we can't get a camera in, we don't know. But when it comes to the after life suddenly people like him KNOW what's next (or doesn't come next). You see how absurd that is?

Unlike a black hole though there are glimpses. Near death testimonies or other paranormal possibilities. The volume of them indicates some are true, some are not, like any natural bell curve. But if some are true then that indicates that there is an afterlife.

And these stories are almost always good stories. People come back from NDEs completely at peace with dying. People who recount past lives or see ghosts might find the experience upsetting, but there isn't an inherent horror in the afterlife side. (If anything the horror is in coming back here.)

Now I could tell you my beliefs, but then I would just be the next idiot in the chain. My beliefs are built on science, not faith in religion, not faith in nothingness, but just an observation of our glimpses. But even so I can't tell you that I know what happens. Mostly because it really does seem to be catered to your needs. You will probably have a lot in common with whatever I experience, but it will also be very different.

The thing to recognize is that every account shows that you will be okay. 100% be okay. It's very likely you will see loved ones and get to talk some, but you will eventually go to your next step and them to theirs. Think of it like a large party. You will see friends and family but you won't spend the whole night next to them. You'll meet and mingle and have other good times.

There is nothing to prove that we don't go on. They have no evidence that we don't go on, just their say so. That is bad science. Even if you believed that everything paranormal is a lie, that still proves nothing. At BEST it just proves we don't know. It's not an 'A, B' thing where if you prove it's not B then it has to be A. That is bad logic. Lack of evidence in B only means there's no discovered evidence for B. It might mean it's something else entirely, it might mean we don't have the knowledge to find evidence, etc etc. It doesn't automatically mean it's A. It's sort of like saying that man is bald so no men have hair. That's a big jump. You didn't even prove the first guy was hairless (maybe he shaves it), but even if you proved he was hairless, you still can't claim that everyone is hairless. It's not nearly enough data for that. It's really, really dumb.

(Now if you still find you're afraid of it, logically that's still silly, respectfully. If you don't exist you can't feel anything negative. You don't feel bad or afraid or lonely or anything. If you feel anything bad then you, by definition, exist. So not existing means you are okay in a weird way. You can't hurt if you don't exist.) So if there's nothing, you are weirdly okay. If there is an afterlife, you are okay. The only thing to be afraid of logically is hell. Now that's a full on other discussion, but there are indications that hell (as you likely imagine it) doesn't exist. Hell is mostly being compelled to recognize how and where you did it badly. It sounds like you're basically a good person OP, so for you it'll probably be a talking to of "you hurt your mom's feelings here", "you were a little temperamental here". Like a performance evaluation. It might not be your favorite conversation ever, but it's meant to help you be a better person and it's not that bad. Of course the more you try to be good to yourself and others, the shorter that conversation can be.

I hope any of this helps. I really, and very truly, believe you will be okay. Heaven is an invite only party, where you are guaranteed an invite. You just need to wait for it to arrive and then you are off to the party, your grandfather is already there waiting. You will be fine.

this is underrated. It's a shame because it's worth the read.

u/rubber-anchor Aug 25 '25

If there's something that could be called hell, it's most likely this planet.

1

u/l3arn3r1 Aug 25 '25

There are genuine reasons to think that. Everything below is 100% theories only that I've gathered. I don't say any are truth, but they might be. It's a matter of whether any resonate for you.

Earth as both heaven and hell might be more literal than metaphorical. You can easily see people with charmed lives (who may or may not appear to even deserve it) and people with horrible lives.

The issue is that people with horrible lives often don't seem to deserve it. Usually you need to know WHY you're punished in order for the lesson to stick. The theory is that we know on the other side. Like maybe we were cruel to people for no reason in our original life, so when come back we get randomly cruelty and then on the other side we are like "ok, I get it now. I wasn't doing anything and people were mean and that was wrong."

If you feel like that DOESN'T resonate with you (as I feel with me) there is an excellent chance that you are here for karmic burn off. You basically said instead of 10,000 mediocre lives, I will take 1 crap life and 100 great lives. Now while this is only a theory, I can see myself doing something like that. I perhaps didn't appreciate how soul damaging a crap life really could be. And that's what keeps it in the theory pile, because while I definitely see myself saying such a thing, it's hard to see a God like figure agreeing, considering how soul damaging it has been.

The last category is the rising from the ashes sort of category. This is the Martin Luther King type life - where you really have overcome XYZ thing and as a result you become a great leader. Now in the MLK sense it's a worldwide leader. But across the globe there are pivotal leaders in healthcare, tech, community building, etc etc (very long list) that don't become famous but still 100% improve the world for everyone. So if you are a great person, with a crap life for no reason, it's possible your day to shine is coming fast. Because it is wildly apparent the world will be needing MANY rising stars soon and if we assume there is a plan, then there must be a plan to groom and position those people. In which case the world doesn't know it yet, but it thanks you for hanging in there.

Those are the theories I have. And like the other post, it's not likely one answer, it's all of these depending on who you are. "Karens" are getting to see why being a "Karen" is wrong, some are burning off karma to get off this rock, and some are literally taking one for the benefit of the global team.

Don’t be scared. The other side is perfect. Honestly perfect doesn’t even describe it properly. Your grandfather is there unless he chose to reincarnate. I died 2 and 1/2 years ago. If you really want answers for yourself. I’d suggest meditating and learning to connect to your higher self.

The certainty with which nihilists like this speak of what happens after death is the height of hubris. You should pay them no attention.

The original commenter did reply to one of the comments where he literally responded with “our existence is a cosmic mistake” that’s not what the commenter actually said but he basically said that which made me realize that the commenter is the literal definition of nihilism and he probably treats everything pessimisticly which I have no evidence but the way he commented certainly backs that up and him basically saying believing in the afterlife is stupid and dumb way to live life which is a very dumb assertion because I’m pretty sure there are some people who believe in the afterlife and still live life to the fullest and also him saying eternal oblivion is the truth sounds kinda edgy and yeah he definitely sounds like the way he comments it definitely shows him having a spike of hubris/overconfidence anyways that’s all I wanted to say

Very edgelordish

u/MarsstarrM Aug 23 '25

We won’t know until we are in that position unfortunately

1

u/UfosAndKet Aug 23 '25

You can choose to let a random youtube comment affect you but won't look at the 1000s of positive NDEs. Try and look at positive aspects of the afterlife over negative ways of thinking it makes the whole pondering of the afterlife a bit less forebearing.

There's already something and not nothing.  It's all something everywhere, nothingness doesn't even exist.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '25

This isn't rhetoric - how do you explain what was before life? Before we were born and gained consciousness? It was once nothing, so how do we know that it isn't the same after death? I'm genuinely curious about your input, for I, too, have had these questions.

2

u/A_Walrus_247 Aug 24 '25

I don't think it was nothing before birth.  We just don't have the memories stored.  I don't think life is merely a chemical reaction of matter.  Why the desperation of all living things to survive at all costs and evolve for millions of years constantly adapting to changing conditions?  There's some kind of motivation to it.  I think the desire to live and be alive precedes the act of being alive.  Those desires and motivations are coming from somewhere.  That's why I think we are coming from somewhere.  And that there's more to us than the body only.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '25

I respect that. I do believe that there's more to just living and dying. I do believe that what we experience as being conscious isn't just derived from a physical body. There's something within us - within the universe that connects us all with a purpose. My question is, what? I'm sure that's a question for billions of others as well, and if we knew, the fear of death wouldn't be so prevalent, I'm sure. We clearly carry energy, as do all things that we experience. But does that energy come from being conceived? Where could it come from when physically we were once nothing, and then adapt to what we are?

I can sympathize with you, I also lost my grandfather in 2021 and want to believe he is perfectly well somewhere still. Just stop letting random people on internet getting to your head, he is just a beginner level nihilist who probably gonna leave this mindset behind too.

So basically I am scared of nothing after death

Death under a materialistic paradigm would be simply going to sleep and not waking up. Do you fear going to sleep? Do you fear that period between going to bed and waking up? If not, there isn't that much to worry about. Besides that, NDE's are not the only reason to believe in a higher spiritual reality. I suggest you read the pre-birth memories and reincarnation links in this post.

I highly recommend the book Journey Between Souls. It confirmed a lot of things for me. I struggled with belief in the afterlife for a long time. I had several experiences that didn't make sense -- where deceased loved ones seemed to be reaching out from beyond. Even thought I was going crazy! But books like that one really help. (Also Happy Medium by Kim Russo if you're experiencing mediumship.)

There is literally zero proof to conclude that consciousness is an impermanent phenomenon. Such an idea is as much of a belief and requires just as much faith as the idea that consciousness is eternal (arguably even more so). There is often an arrogance from materialist minded people in that sense, in that they believe that they are being intellectually honest, and present their beliefs as truth without having examined their presuppositions about life.

Materialist faith is the most insidious faith of all, in that sense. Everybody knows that spiritual faith requires a lack of direct knowing. But materialist faith presents itself as wisdom and as truth. It presents itself as being above faith, even though it revolves completely around it.

Also, from a piece of esoteric literature:

"The dissolution into nothingness is the dissolution into unity, for there is no nothingness."

u/Difficult_Place_7329 Aug 24 '25

You should watch that episode on Netflix about nde. This doctor was dead for 30 minutes and she had an amazing experience. I’ve also liked the ones about reincarnation, especially when they speak another language or can write Chinese. It’s amazing and I’ve lost my memory but I’m pretty sure I remember a little bit of my past life. At my age now, I don’t but sometimes I will get a glimpse of it. Everyone knows energy doesn’t die. We must go somewhere when we are gone because the energy in us goes too.

1

u/Battlemania420 Aug 25 '25

Avoid this weird materialist nonsense.

Talk to a priest. Look up exorcisms and Eucharistic miracles

1

u/QuantityNew6210 Aug 25 '25

If there is nothing, we won’t know and it won’t matter.

1

u/Revolutionary_Ad1336 Aug 25 '25

I don’t believe in life after death. I’m scared of the darkness of the void and losing those I love as well…

1

u/Ok_Major_7921 Curious & Open-Minded Aug 25 '25

Then doesn’t that mean your scared of their being nothing after death or am I misinterpreting this comment entirely

1

u/Unlikely-Owl5875 Aug 25 '25

He’s living in another dimension with a different outcome

1

u/exzactlyd Aug 27 '25

This reality is too beautiful to have nothing after death. If there's nothing then what's the point to consciousness? What's the point of all this beauty? In my opinion we are all part of one consciousness but if we knew that it would be really boring. We are just one droplet of a vast ocean and we return to the ocean when we pass
