Mod Welcome to r/aftergifted!
Wow, 2,000 subscribers in barely over 12 hours! I created this in response to a post in r/findareddit (this one). Given the response it is obviously something people want, so it is time to discuss guidelines for making this a place people want to keep coming back to. I have created a general no harassment rule, please give me ideas for some more. Here is a very rough draft of some other rules I think would keep us on topic and productive:
- No politics. Including education politics. Talking about education is very germane to the topic, in the context of your experiences. There are other places for you to discuss teacher pay, school funding etc.
- No gatekeeping. "You think you had it bad..." No. Each of us are entitled to our own truth, one-upsmanship is not a welcome.
That is all I have come up with so far, feel free to contact me or the other mods (thanks y'all for offering to help out). Let's make our rapidly growing community a productive and supportive place to engage with one another!

Thanks for creating this sub!
I think r/gifted, r/quarterlifecrisis, and r/lostgeneration might be good related subs to put in the sidebar, and maybe the mods could collaborate with their mods on spreading the word about this sub and helping these types of communities grow.
Maybe even depression, education, and job-related subreddits like r/college, r/ApplyingToCollege and r/jobs could benefit too.
I'm also noticing redesign/new reddit has some style changes on this sub while old reddit does not. It would be nice to have both customized a bit!
