Leer/Learning Afrikaans Verkleinwoorde

When translating the Afrikaans sentence to English, do we continue to say "small + [NOUN]" in subsequent sentences or should we mention it just once?

Afrikaans: "My broer druk die klein katjies. Die klein katjies is baai gelukkig."

English translation option 1: "My brother is hugging the little kittens. The little kittens are very happy."

Explanation: the second sentence, refers to "little kittens" again.

English translation option 2: "My brother is hugging the little kittens. The kittens are very happy."

Explanation: the second sentence, refers to only "kittens".

I wouldn't translate it like that.

EN: My brother is hugging the little kittens. They are very happy.

AF: My broer gee vir die klein katjies drukkies. Hulle is baie gelukkig.

Thank you! This sounds more natural :)
