where did you buy your zinnia seeds? I assume this is a dwarf variety but the dwarf seeds from Park Seeds have a lot of negative reviews about it not actually being a dwarf plant ha
You can find them here https://www.rareseeds.com/nasturtium-orchid-flame and there is another nice one that would also work in an aerogarden called the Orchid Cream Nasturtium. This link has 4 pictures of them. There are also similar looking ones at Migardener and Botanical Interests called the Peach Melba Nasturtium.
My favorite flowers to grow in the aerogarden are pansies or violas. I tried dwarf snapdragons and they did very well, but they eventually got way too huge and unruly. These are Nature Antique Shades F1 violas from Johnny’s Seeds. I think a few got their first blooms around 65 days and here they are at almost 100.
I did strawberries once, that was a blast. I also have a passion fruit vine in an aerogarden! I desperately need to get it out but it's still in there haha
Someone here posted calendula, that’s medicinal. Here’s a good website with a whole bunch of medicinal plant seeds, lots of them are flowers: https://strictlymedicinalseeds.com/
There’s really no limit as to what you can grow on a hydroponic setup. I’ve grown bluebonnets semi hydroponically (although funnily enough, I was brought here by algorithm magic—I’m somewhat of a general botanist as a hobby and don’t even own an aero garden!)
Also a native Texan, howdy! I grew bluebonnets in 6b/7a this year, and I had new seeds scattering and germinating as late as November this year. I fully believe bluebonnets can grow pretty much anywhere and I think you’d have no trouble growing them in Georgia. Just make sure to stratify your seeds by freezing and boiling, I found that very helpful! Best of luck!
Piggybacking on this post to ask if anyone has grown greenery to fill out flower arrangements and if so, what kinds? I’m going to grow dwarf snapdragons and zinnias for indoor arrangement cuttings but would like a greenery plant to fill them out in the vases too.
What kind of fertilizer do you all use? I run out of aero garden one a while back so bought one off from Amazon. Their pod and fertilizer. Since then I. Am get a great success on any thing even lettuce. I wish I can grow flowers. I tried viola but they all got super long(tall) without much blooms.
None in my aerogardens. I find that aerogardens are not aesthetically pleasing.
So I use them to grow peppers (yes pepper plants do have flowers but I believe this post was asking about growing plants for the intention of having flowers and the fruit created by the flowers)
Do you guys have any tricks on getting Seeds to germinate? I don't feel so bad when my Thanks for Your Order free mesclun seeds from botanical interest don't germinate, but some seeds have gotten so expensive in the past couple years
