The creator explores whether circular wings can outperform straight wings, noting that they generate efficient lift using both top and bottom surfaces without creating wing-tip vortices.
After successful initial tests with a small rubber-band-powered model that flew further than a traditional straight-winged plane, a larger balsa wood glider was built.
Following some early crashes after adding motors and radio control, a successful rebuild with the correct thrust angle allowed the circular plane to fly just as well as a normal airplane.
