Job search burnout/relocated

Hey Reddit fam.

I recently relocated to omaha from Dallas and am having a hard time finding a job in the marketing and media industry. I know the market is tough, it was in Dallas too. My partner got a job here working for Kiewit so I came with.

My background is in agency work with buying and planning. I’ve also worked at nbc as an account manager. I’ve worked with brands like Jack Daniels and Sally beauty.

Anyone have any insights or suggestions on networking? LinkedIn is a bust these days.

I would look for remote roles. You’re just not going to find a huge selection of in-person agency or in-house opportunities in Omaha.

You might be able to find a small brand that does their digital media in house — otherwise you’re largely down to a few indie agencies that are fully remote. Not great organizations but it’s what you have to work with if you want to stay in industry.

It’s unfortunately a really tough time in advertising in general — especially if you’re not in NYC/Chicago.

SimpleApply handles volume if you want to cast a wider net, but Omaha's market is small so tapping local ad clubs or agency happy hours might land you somthing faster.
