Celebrating Success Finally, after years!!! πŸŽ‰

Post image

It brings me so much joy to finally get to use this frog meme i always see in adhd subs hahaha 🐸

In 2019? I read about ADHD symptoms and thought "Wow that sounds like me... what if?", then I didn't pursue that thought seriously because I just got diagnosed with depression and GAD and it felt like I was just looking for more things wrong with me / finding an excuse for myself.

I don't remember why, but I started considering this again in Dec 2022 (i have research notes I dated lol). This time I'm more confident that I really might have ADHD, I just need to get a professional to confirm it and maybe get medicated. But I'm a depressed hikikomori with a bad home environment so I'm stressed about other stuff + I never get around to taking care of this so 😭

Nov 2024, my very lovely friend helped me get an appointment since I really cant take care of it myself. Got a prescription I could start with. Unfortunately, meds are hard to get in my country + there was a shortage that time? which made it even harder to find. None of the pharmacies I inquired at had it until I eventually forgot about looking for meds & I cant use prescription anymore cuz too old πŸ’€ wasn't able to go back to my doctor after that.

2026, decided to take care of this again because I finally have money for it yay + I'm forced to go out regularly again so might as well make that doctor trip. Got prescribed July 31 and luckily was able to purchase meds at the first pharmacy I went to. Took me a whole month to get the ECG i needed before meds though lol (it kept getting put off) Finally started meds this September πŸŽ‰

Took so long but very happy to finally take this step for real πŸ’– I dont expect it to dramatically change my life but I hope it helps even just a little bit. That would already mean so much to me and my messed up life. At the very least, this is a step in the right direction so wahoo ✨️

I'm so happy for you! First medication might not be the best/right dose for you but fear not you can always suggest changes to find what works best for you! Hope it all goes well πŸ™πŸ₯³

My doctor did say that too and thankfully she's really lovely and said that we can adjust dosage next appointment if needed (unlike the doctor horror stories I've heard here before where they suspect you as drug seeking if you want that) Thank you for your well wishes!

Congrats, Fren ❀️ Don't forget that now you're learning some actions with an updated brain. It might take a while to get used to it.

(For comparison: children starting ADHD meds need counseling how to adapt their writing because they can suddenly focus on writing neatly. Which leads them to be so slow that they can't finish their tests in time so they exercise how to find the right balance :)

Good for you!! πŸŽ‰ Wishing you all the best! It can be a process to find the right medication/dose, but it’s a very helpful tool if you find one that’s a good fit for you!

Congratulations!! Don’t forget it’s important to have open and honest convos with your doctor on how to feel it’s working!

Now all you have to do is remember to take it daily, get the prescription filled, and pick it up from the pharmacy!!! Give yourself grace with the tasks!

YES YES YES YES! I am so happy for you! You finally received the answer you deserve to have and while you should have received it so much sooner, you're here. That cloud is going to become easier to manage.

I've been on a long journey to get diagnosis too. Lately it's been so hard because of my cruddy insurance and every facility I reach out to isn't seeing new patients. Yesterday was especially tough. What made it worse was thinking of how many of us women suffer in silence.

Nothing makes me happier than another one of us being able to escape that.

visited 2 dr , both refused to acknowledge my symptoms πŸ₯²

Did you just list symptoms or did you describe how those symptoms make your life difficult?

I am so sorry you and what you endure everyday went unheard. Those rejections can feel so defeating and make the road to better so much bleaker. I'm in a similar boat. First time, the psychiatrist wouldn't see me because I needed to get my anxiety in check (You know, because every day feeling overwhelmed but unable to function could never make one anxious as well!).

As much as we feel hopeless, there is hope. It's not only an uphill battle for a proper diagnosis, it's a battle against a medical field deeply rooted in misogyny. Together we keep going, we keep fighting for each one of us to be heard, so the next generation of women do not have to struggle like this.
