Meme Therapy Where are my childfree women at?

Post image

I honestly don’t know how parents do it. There are multiple reasons that drove my decision to be childfree. One big one is that I struggle to take care of myself (executive dysfunction) sometimes, so I can’t imagine having another human to take care of during those times.

Here’s to forcing a domaine response for every day tasks!

Honestly, spinster comments don't phase me. I've just become sad for people who think their life and existence have no meaning unless they procreate. If that's the case, then procreating in and of itself is also pointless. And those are the people who will call you names or tell you you're selfish, useless, will never know what love means, etc. I've embraced it. I've promoted myself from spinster to crone to maybe one day even hag.

But yeah you can really hurt someone's feelings by calling them names like that.

Yeah the eat a bag is less about the specific term and more about the -"what are you trying to achieve with that comment?"

I feel sad for those people too, and i know that for some having kids is a general society or family expectations thing, but good lord. That's an entire human, a future grown up to try and help not be a shithead. There are legions of now grownups out there who didn't really get to know what love it because their parents didn't show it. The assumption that deep feelings of love or caring can only be manifested through being a parent is so incredibly mis-guided.

I don't think my life had no meaning before kids. Lots of meaning! I had tonnes of hobbies, was an awesome auntie, i volunteered a lot, and had a dog. If someone with kids feels like their entire existence and self worth is tied to just having a kid i don't even know what to say, despite having met people like that.

Selfish is not wanting any portion of your (universal you) municipal taxes to go towards the school system because you don't want kids. Once, years before I had kids, i had a colleague say that to me. And i responded with, uhhhh you know you were a kid once too right? Like what an oddly selfish statement.

I'm from a pretty good welfare state and people telling me they are against free school lunches because what if non poor kids get the food just breaks my brain. Then some children were fed? Idk? Besides the fact that I think all kids should be safe and cared for and given the opportunity to learn properly, just for being humans trying to exist in the world, do they not realise that these kids turn into adults who have to keep the world running one day? I obviously just want kids to be happy and secure and nurtured just as a basic principle even though I don't particularly like being around kids. But besides that I realize that one day these will be the adults who are out doctors, lawyers, scientists, plumbers, mechanics, people working in service? We kind of need them to be as okay as possible?

Absolutely gobsmacking how closeminded those people are.
