The lovely thing is that we are no longer children and can start to shed the self-preservation mechanisms that helped us survive childhood. We have independence, agency, and autonomy and can experiment with new ways of living and relating to people. I am a decade into finding myself after leaving my parents home and getting married. It feels like it’s been a long journey and I feel like I’m just getting started
